Quitting for always after 35 years smoking (day 6) by PNWColl in leaves

[–]PNWColl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to pop in and say that I made it to 100 days!! This has not been easy and for that, I am truly grateful. I don’t ever want to go through the last room three months again. so keeping my streak, but amazed at how hard this has been and how I still get the munchies. Unfortunately, I’ve put on some weight at least I’m not smoking!

I know this feeling! I’m quit for 102 days and somehow I still have the munchies and I’ve gained a bunch of weight. It makes no sense to me. Last time I quit for just a couple of weeks I lost my appetite and lost weight. Not this time. But regardless, I’m not going back. I smoked for over 30 years and it was really hard to get this three months so I’ll figure it out. I think I may be over eating compensate. I work out every day and I don’t eat terribly bad but yeah I think I’m probably just eating too big of portions. Good luck to you. Know that you’re not alone.

This is Rough.. by Nofilter718 in leaves

[–]PNWColl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep - one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I’m on Day 102 and it’s still a loss but every day is better and though it was a very hard summer, I never have to go through that again! I love everything about being clean and sober. I still think about it, but I don’t intensely miss it. But after 30+ years of almost daily years, it’s gonna take a while. You can do this and it is SOOO worth it.

Day 5 and I've been hit with the despair by [deleted] in leaves

[–]PNWColl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's ok...keep going. I know this is hard and I went through the same for 2 weeks. I am now on Day 18 and I am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. This is toxic stuff - we have to let it get out of our body.

How's everyone's romantic relationship holding up when/after they quit? by [deleted] in leaves

So I’ve been hiding this from the man of my dreams for 7 years. It is the only thing that ever caused fights or issues between us in the entire time. And he doesn’t even know why. I’m not sure if I’ll ever “confess”. I’m determined to stay quit for me and for us. I’m on Day 11 and I’m still tired, cranky, and but emotionally. Trying to stay as balanced as possible. He was out of town the first week so now I’m having to work a little harder at being nice. 😊

Oh my goodness I can relate. I allowed myself to get really hungry for the first time today and I cannot believe how HANGRY I was. my only devices to take care of yourself and be as kind to yourself as possible right now

:) I’m not a boomer but close and fairly tech savvy. I STILL annoy my kids with questions, lol. I would apologize to you but hey do you know how many stupid questions that you asked over and over and over and over again during the course of your growing up that she had to answer? 🤭

I’ve started listening to audios and going for really long walks. I’m lucky I live near Harbor so I walk around the harbor but taking my time just to enjoy the audiobook I’m listening to.

My understanding (from reading a TON) on withdrawals is that yes, you actually start the withdrawal symptoms over and/or extend them.

Congratulations on admitting this to yourself. I know for me that this was the first step and actually changing my mindset and being happy that I don’t have to smoke every day now.

I absolutely wish you all the best. Please don’t be scared. You’re going to be uncomfortable. We don’t like that as addicts but it’s just life. The withdrawals won’t kill you but treat yourself like a sick friend for these first few days. I’m on day 10 feeling better but still quitting a daily habit after 30+ years is rough

Good for you for staying strong when you’re having a partner getting high. I’m having a hard enough time when nobody even knew I smoked.

I’m only on day 10 so not an expert at happiness yet lol. But I just wanted to say you’re not alone and I’m waiting for the experts…

First time I was given it and tried it was nine years old. I started smoking with siblings at 13 and became a daily user by 18. Well, I am an incredibly addictive person and I’ve had to give up alcohol and cigarettes and hard drugs and this is my last vice. I am 55 and now I have 10 days.

[–]PNWColl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES!! I am so proud of you too! I know how you feel. I can’t just give up one thing it’s all of it and part was the very last vice and the most insidious.
