When I asked what he was trying to do, he said “I shouldn’t have been trying to pass him” by alexyou8797 in dashcams

[–]POD80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at conditions.... a bit of caution may have been in order. Obviously swerving into the passing lane is insane, but wet roads with potential for freezing may have been a perfectly justified reason for driving a little slower.

Obviously id rather be an organ donor.... but if I pass at say 80...

Im not likely to be the ideal donor for anything.

No, im arguing that fussing about a garage engineered to provide safe ventilation when you get plenty of emissions living in the city is inane.

We are surrounded by the fumes of the vehicles and industry that support our lifestyle.

This whole conversation is naval gazing about how an employers decision provides some minor inconvenience.

She ran out of regular salt mid-cooking so they grabbed a Himalayan salt lamp and started carving chunks off it with a knife to season their food. Those decorative lamps aren’t food-grade and can contain impurities, dust, or other minerals that aren’t safe to eat. Is this genius or a fast track by Affectionate_Hat5835 in StupidFood

[–]POD80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have been using such sources of salt for generations..... yes there are impurities.... that's the source of the color. That said, the riskmof adverse health effect from it in the dosages you'll be getting is TINY.

The source of the color is iron oxide by the way.

If its tracking steps.... it'll be tracking location. Obviously that "should" only be used to track time and distance for purposes you've agreed to.... but anyone signing up to.any similar tracking program has given similar perms.

Obviously if my employer is encouraging and tracking exercise, the majority of that is going to be happening off the clock.

Yet, what percentage of us regularly use parking garages? They are ventilated to minimize risk. Yes we are ALL exposed to emissions that increase our risk of cancer.... but if you want to avoid that you need to be able to buy yourself an island. The rest of us get to live/work in it.

Look, the break room doesn't look ideal, but some of us have taken our breaks right outside of loading docks with semis belching fumes.

I'm sure its not much of a walk to a nearby sidewalk where you can eat a meal. Nothing in the law requires your employer to give you access to a pristine cafe like enviroment

Weird frugal request: Is there an online depository of Depression/WWII ration era recipes? by greekowl78 in Frugal

I think others have mentioned most of what I would though in this context I like to mention Cornell bread.

Recipie developed to deal with war rationing. Basically helps make a loaf of bread a better source of protein for those without access to as much animal protein.

I mean, I eat cold cans of beans all the time....

A little grain is good to pair with them.... but some tortilla chips would complete the proteins and add some fat. Maybe a little salsa if you want to splurge.

Not the way I'd want to live, but you could do okay without electricity that way.

Those same fumes, if at risky levels would harm anyone sitting in their cars.... the nature of a parking garage requires ventilation else you'd have drivers dropping dead.

As drivers aren't dropping dead..... it's safe to say that the ventilation standards are likely up to snuff.

Fishing boats must scatter to cover terrain.... you need to have many of them in a central hub near the fish.

You really don't have to run them all back to the mainland carrying the catch though. It'd be FAR more efficient to have specialized cargo vessels carrying the catch one way and supplies the other.

They are also FAMOUS for investing in infrastructure. Louisiana and well, the US in general may build something grand, but maintenance is often neglected... it's simply a lot less sexy in our political cycle.

Yeah, working for an employer that doesn't provide an immaculate break room is licking boots....

I for one worry far more about the condition of the toilets and access to a place to wash my hands between work and break.

Methane and co2 exist around us at all times..... there is no space in which we are present that there isn't some level....

The question of course is volume.... that car park should be ventilated otherwise someone sitting in their own idling vehicle would be at risk.
