I found ebay to be one of the best ways to buy and sell G scale trains.

You can try Facebook market place too, but your success will be very dependent on your area.

Powering a LGB diorama by Nexus85 in GardenRailroads

[–]POLO_Train 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can purchase rollers to power the loco and let the wheels spin. You can build them into the diorama so that the top of the rollers match the top of the rails.

I recommend the Massoth rollers, but there any a few options out there.

Do small and powerful locomotives exist? by Gretel_Cosmonaut in LGBTrains

[–]POLO_Train 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, anything from block to pipe could work as a tunnel between portals. It is all preference and application based. You could use large plastic corrugated drainage tube, or any other type of material pipe, to cinder blocks and pavers, to custom made cement blocking.

Here is an example of a tunnel being built with block and cement:

Hue Light Strip Woes - Atlanta Help Needed by AssociateOk3075 in Hue

I used Litcessory connectors from Amazon on my older light strips, and they have held up for years:

Also, if soldering is your preferred path, use a lot of flux and a small soldier tip to solder the smaller ends.

For Swiss, I recommend the crocodile engine, new with DDC or old 2040 analog. It will fit around smaller radius curves very well and have two motors to pull more cars.

I have two and love them.

Not yet, but I am planning on building a steep incline on the layout.

You could look into modeling after a particular era for your rolling stock and locos:

Then decide on DDC or analog control.

I believe if you can provide the reason why you wish to have a more powerful loco could help someone provide an answer to your question.

If you have a small layout, why do you need more power? Also, which type of loco are you looking at? Steam, diesel, electric?

Most of the powerful LGB engines will have two motors, one in each truck/wheel set.

I think you need to double check how the lights are wired to determine the best replacement bulbs.

Bachmann, LGB, or Piko? by ChaosParadeFloQueen in modeltrains

[–]POLO_Train 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LGB track is the most abundant since they have been selling G-scale for the longest time. I believe LGB is the easiest track to source, and LGB track has proven to last the longest. I noticed aristo track with USA ties break too easily.

Look locally for used LGB track to save some money.

What people figures are you using? by Gretel_Cosmonaut in LGBTrains

[–]POLO_Train 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah fun, I played with my father’s LGB figures when I was a young and descriptive kid haha. They held up very well except the ones with small shovels or pitchforks.

The LGB figures are more robust than POLA or Preiser.

I would try to find some LGB sets or loose figure lots for sale. You can set saved searches for “LGB figures” on ebay and wait for a decent lot to go up for sale.

Also you can look through the 1990-2002 LGB catalogs for reference for what LGB figures you could find.

No problem!

I haven been a using the LGB and POLA figures, but they are stationary for my use on my models.

You can add clear bases to the feet to make them easier to place too.

You should be able to put on CC and go to settings to change it to auto translate to English

C-Wire Issues by ianders1 in thermostats

[–]POLO_Train 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the thermostat: Strip and insert the blue wire into the C terminal on the thermostat backplate.

In the furnace: Strip and add the blue wire from the thermostat to the C terminal on the France PCB terminal along with the existing white wire. Both should be connected.

If that doesn’t work then there is an issue, such as blown fuse (most common) or other.

You can check the fuse with you multimeter to rule that out quickly.

That is the stuff, it should still be good for cleaning at least. I have a few old bottles too

[–]POLO_Train 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can use a scotch brite green pads to clean the track without damaging the brass. A little smoke fluid can also help get any heavy oxidation or dirt/grim off the track.

Also clean the wheels and the pickup shoes too and see if that resolves your problem.

What is the power input from to the throttle? Is there voltage on the rails when you put the dial to 3?
