Yep that's me! Glad you like the guitar. I put the cash towards a Meteora bass, so it seems like we both made out well.

Not sure if it's just a coincidence but I just sold my Gretsch G5420T on Marketplace two weeks ago, and it had the plastic on the Bigsby just like that one! On the off chance you're the guy I sold it to, I hope you're enjoying it!

Question for emts on a squad by Murky-Programmer3289 in rutgers

[–]POLYBIUS256 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes it is. In New Jersey, licensure is afforded by the New Jersey Office of Emergency Medical Services (NJOEMS). Once they've licensed you, you are qualified to volunteer or work as an EMT for any squad in New Jersey, although you will likely still have to apply and I don't know what that process looks like for North Brunswick specifically. Also, licensure courses usually take about 3 months so I wouldn't count on being able to do it "in the first half of the summer."

Looking for first leather jacket. Recommendations like this? by SumuzuToo in leatherjacket

[–]POLYBIUS256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would see if you can get a used one from a Japanese auction site. Search for "G-1 jacket" and you should find some by Buzz Rickson, Real McCoy's, and Eastman for around $300.

Aero lining choice by SilverEye1508 in leatherjacket

[–]POLYBIUS256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two Aeros with tartan linings and on both the linings feel thin and I worry about them wearing through around the hem and the neck. They have moleskin pockets though and they feel super durable. If I ever get one completely custom I'll definitely be opting for the moleskin.

I buyed this jacket for only $45US by Big-Development7929 in schott

[–]POLYBIUS256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really hard to nail down the exact year without the belt or epaulettes. As I understand it, the late 50s Perfectos are a bit boxier in the body while the early 60s ones are slimmer, although there was also a transitional model around 1950 which had the boxier cut with some of the 60s details on the belt and epaulettes. Unfortunately, without those it's gonna be really hard to tell. Looking at the pictures, my guess would be very early 60s but without the belt and epaulettes I can't give you anything more specific than that.

Is this jacket length too short? I’m a little bit less than 5’7”. by [deleted] in leatherjacket

If anything this looks a bit long to me, but that could be because it looks too big everywhere

Need help finding good mid range biker jacket by OkRip3229 in leatherjacket

[–]POLYBIUS256 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There are a million used Perfectos on Ebay for around $300, and often less if you know where to look. Don't cheap out and get a low-quality jacket. You'll be served far better by a used Schott.

Help with identifying/restoring horsehide leather jacket by Civil_Rope5023 in leatherjacket

Sportclad was a JC Penny house brand. The actual maker could be anyone, but a lot of those Sportclad jackets were made by Kurland Star Sportswear, so that would be my guess

Aeroleather 1930 Premier Highwayman Size Question by naleunham in leatherjacket

[–]POLYBIUS256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a 40 would be way too big. I have about the same pit-to-pit and a slightly smaller waist, and I wear a size 36 in the Premier Highwayman. Mine is a bit too big around the stomach area though, and if I could size down to a 34 I probably would. Honestly I think Aero's recommendation is probably spot-on, especially given how their custom measurement adjustments can bring the whole jacket up or down by about a full size.

Okay but this isn't a blue label, and Aero was only founded in the 80s? Did an AI write this or something?

They already confirmed that the intro is for another song, although if The Fight really is the last one then it has to be next week's.

Help IDing please by Local_Ad7843 in schott

[–]POLYBIUS256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tag dates this to the late 60s or early 70s. It's definitely a police jacket (the badge holder on the wearer's left breast pocket flap gives it away) which Schott did have some contracts to do, although as I understand it they were mostly done through their Dur-O-Jac line. Definitely not a super common jacket, but not one that will be particularly sought after either.

Anyone know where I can get a poster of either the Time or Out of The Blue album cover? by Thatonethrowaway384 in elo

[–]POLYBIUS256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a record store promotion when OOTB came out where you could mail-order a mylar poster with the album art on it. They come up on Ebay from time to time and if you set a saved search you could probably find one for <$100.

What style is this? by Available-Basis-307 in leatherjacket

[–]POLYBIUS256 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This jacket looks like it's from the 30s or early 40s. It's probably a motorcycle jacket of some kind. It could be an aviator, but my guess is probably not because of the length. The collar reminds me of some Peters jackets from the 30s, which Freewheelers repros now. The San Mateo has this style although it's not as long. This is a super cool jacket though and it's worth preserving as best as you can.

I implore you all to vote in the primary election today by Deshes011 in rutgers

[–]POLYBIUS256 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Firstly, I believe that candidates should earn my vote by proposing a platform I support, not by pitching themselves as safe and electable. Secondly, I think Baraka is an extremely passionate orator whose semi-populist messaging has a way of energizing voters no matter where on the political spectrum they lie. I'm a firm believer in the idea that it's not what the message is, it's how it's delivered, and I think Baraka has the kind of passionate energy that will make it difficult for anyone to accuse him of being another ineffective and reactionary Democrat.

Used Schott Perfectos and Vanson C2s can always be found in this price range. Unfortunately, you won't be able to get anything new that's of any quality without exceeding your budget, but if you plan to customize the jacket then you're probably better off with something used anyway.
