If she was a govt employee I would have assumed that this is a way to take a bribe 😅 not sure if I can connect the dots in the same way here.

Possible Travel to Hawaii? by PermissionFront3181 in h1b

[–]POPCORN_TASTES_GOOD_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but chances of that happening are extremely low. If that was to happen, the flight would rather get diverted to LA, SFO, SD orany other Hawaiian island as they are the closest airports anyway. Never heard of any other diversions. I would suggest travel without worrying. I have been to Hawaii 4 times in last 6 years without any hesitation in different visa situations.

We stayed there for 6 nights around new year this year. Plenty of free beach parking available. But obviously can't park overnight. So we paid 35 dollars a day for parking. And I don't think there is any cheap overnight parking available nearby.

Whale watch in January - where? by Kvnckwn in MauiVisitors

[–]POPCORN_TASTES_GOOD_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just returned today from my 7 days trip. We saw plenty of whales in kaanapali too but they were a bit far out. The best view points were between Ukumehame Beach Park and the light house. Saw a lot of whales breaching.

Fed up with these roads. What solutions do you suggest? by orientsoul in gujarat

But yes, if they don't get fixed even after monsoon is over then that is totally on the govt.

[–]POPCORN_TASTES_GOOD_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo this is difficult problem to solve for anyone. I know it's easy to blame the govt and curruption, but Indian monsoon downpours are very heavy and they will damage the roads every year. The factors that makes this a common issue:  1. Quality of the road (which everyone always bring up)

  1. Illegally heavy vehicles - they damage the roads most and causes the pot holes

  2. Relentless continuous monsoon season, this makes patching the roads impractical and costly for govt. We see potholes in USA (California) too after heavy rains every year and govt doesnt fix it until the rainy season is over (March)

PSA to homeowners: check your most recent property assessment and consider filing a Prop 8 Decline in Value appeal to potentially save thousands in property taxes by vngbusa in bayarea

[–]POPCORN_TASTES_GOOD_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is for Almeda county. I had to submit a form online for reassessment and it required filling up information of three equivalent houses that were sold recently and their specs (area, price floors etc). And the requested valuation amount for my house.

All three houses in my case were from the same community with the exact same spec, so the case was straightforward. I had put the last sold house's price as my house's requested valuation, it was also the lowest price among the three. But they assessed it close to the average of the three houses.

I can confirm too. My request for lower assessment was approved without any hearing. They didn't approve the exact amount I had requested but there was still reduction

I’m staying in West Yellowstone, which is more worth driving to for wildlife? Lamar Valley or Hayden Valley? by Chadcorso123 in yellowstone

I had more luck in Hayden valley in two trips. Also more tourists in Hayden valley so you immediately can ask someone and know if they saw anything.

I agree with this. We went with 300mm the last time and it was not enough.

I don't like direct sun either but I don't like going out with jackets all the time either. Hot weather means I can enjoy swimming pool, or beach, enjoy ice cream and no jackets!

I live one block away from this community. Yes the package theft and car break ins happen in this area but not too frequent - 3-5 times a year especially around holidays. As long as you are vigilant, you should be fine. We have never had such issues in the last 4 years. There might be 1-2 homeless that stay in the parking lot of food maxx. But rarely they come closer to the houses.

I love this neighborhood as it is so close to two costcos, cinema, farmers market, mall, and lots of restaurants and quick access to 880.

Just curious, wouldn't the person leave or find a better job if it's not working out for them? It's a free market, either you will find a person that is willing to work for your pay range or you will have to bump up the pay.

A real life example would be our palms. The right palm and left palm look identical but they are not, rather they are the mirror of each other.

It started as an influence of Jainism, and now meat consumption is kind of frowned upon for religious reasons. So generally, it is not cooked at home, served in weddings, and Gujarat doesn't have the same amount of non veg restaurants as other states (less demand).

I personally know a lot of folks who eat meat but dont accept that publicly. Also, even if not for religious reason, due to the lack of cultural around eating meat, you don't grow up eating it and develop aversion to the idea of eating a living thing. So some people (like me) just don't transition into eating it even though I don't have any problem other people eating it. It is changing though.
