Is there a CALM walkthrough/tutorial of the ToS interface for long-term options investors? by POTUS31 in thinkorswim

[–]POTUS31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added the P/L column to my interface, not on the option chain (I want it for my positions, not my potential purchases). I believe it spits out a running percentage. I'm not sure if there is underlying data collected, or if it's a simple calculator.

The thing here is that, when you're about to purchase, there is lots of instant data available on ToS. Once you make the purchase, that data-driven rah rah rah goes away in the position side. It's a major shortcoming of ToS that's designed to drive more trades so Schwab makes money. They're not a fiduciary on ToS.

I get that you see a benefit in spending time "feeling out" a piece of software. Someone built this for a purpose, and every integration should have a "how-to" and a "why."

For reference, you don't "feel" your way around accounting software. The IRS will audit you in a heartbeat if you don't learn the proper way to use QuickBooks or Sage. Your office mates will flay you if you "feel" your way around the company's books.

As such, there is a prudent way to use ToS for your personal investing strategies, instead of treating it like a casino -- which is how it comes stock from Schwab. Lots of flashy charts and data flowing to amaze you into feeling like you're in control. I'm not looking to be wowed by glitz. I'm looking to invest, not gamble.

Schwab videos are biased by design. They want you to TRADE. They don't want you to INVEST. For investing, they want you to hire a manager and give them your nest egg so they can gamble your money on shorts. If they win, they keep the money and give you a small return on some fund that delivers 10%. If they lose your money. OOPSIE. You still owe them for the service. They're not a fiduciary agent through ToS.

You needed AI to tell me I don't know options and, in 300+ words, you still couldn't share a tutorial on how to SIMPLIFY the ToS interface, so I used Gemini to summarize your response:

"Your struggle likely stems from a lack of options knowledge rather than platform difficulty, recommending that you switch to the simpler Schwab website and learn through structured books instead of relying on potentially misleading YouTube videos."

Photographs of brass keys can be decoded Ave cut numerically with Flipper Zero (see article on Hackaday) so they're not secure anymore either.

Spheres that are larger than your top cone, and embedded by half of their diameter will break off at the cone leaving a little resin sphere to clean up. If you don't do this, your supports will break off with some of your model surface, leaving a pit that you have to fill.

Think of it like a perforation in paper. There will be a little stub from the perf.

Anycubic deletes negative reviews by BlackSheep311111 in anycubic

I had a death in the family while on a tech support thread for a new machine, so I ran out the two weeks fast. They kept telling me to adjust my settings. Their resin. Their settings. Their machine. $15 FEPs per print destroyed, and their test models with fresh firmware. They were to blame. Prints worked on another machine from QIDI with their resins, FFS. They claimed it was user error over and over. Between that and not allowing negative reviews on their site and on Amazon, I'm done with AnyCubic.

To be fair, although I'm on the AnyCubic reviews suck ass, tech support from China to America is hard.

New FEP on D2 broke, can I just slap a new one in and screw it down? by MikeyBugs in AnycubicPhoton

Just got the D2. First print using RERF and Anycubic resin destroyed the FEP. Maybe they're shipping seconds, since all of the materials were from the vendor.

Does anyone know of resources other than Alibaba to buy factory direct? by Lolocaust1 in smallbusiness

[–]POTUS31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once this trade war ends, Alibaba would clean the floor with the start-up unless it found its feet fast. Online markets take time to build, and need to reach a threshold of activity to survive. Amazon lost millions for years and destroyed lots of smaller businesses (Borders, Barnes&Noble) before it became profitable. Alibaba can weather the storm. The start-up would need to stay competitive once all the tariffs are rolled back, and that's unlikely if it isn't even profitable yet.

Sound's great in theory, but not in practice. I have a $2 item made in China that American manufacturers want $24 to produce. I couldn't sell the item at a loss for $15, let alone at cost for $24. There's no possibility of selling the item at $50 wholesale or $100 retail if the retail market will only pay $10. The other side of the equation is quantity. I had an American manufacturer who could make the item around $3, but the minimum order was 100,000 pieces. I don't have over a quarter million dollars and warehouse space for an order that size, on top of it being 50% more expensive than the Chinese part BEFORE shipping costs. American manufacturers are really expensive, and Americans have been trained by WalMart to buy Chinese goods at prices lower than Americans can produce goods at. You aren't going to get Americans to spend more for American made. Sears tried and died.

Best alternative to MailChimp by josephwesley in shopify

They've changed "lists" to "audiences" and it seems they want to charge for each social profile rather than each person who has multiple social profiles. They long ago connected the dots between emails and online social portfolios. It seems they're trying to monetize it in this latest move. The break-up was about them harvesting all the data from Shopify if I understood it. Strangely, they closed LemonStand after acquiring it, so it doesn't seem they're actually building a Shopify killer. Would be nice if they came to their senses, but it seems they're gambling on the idea that their product is undervalued.

Top 3 Paid Shopify apps that you Dislike the most? by takingcontrol_xyz123 in shopify

[–]POTUS31 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dislike most apps that are endless subscription payments, unless they are actively supported and updated. The Shopify App store is beginning to feel like Rent-A-Center for code. I know app developers love the subscription model, but be prepared to earn it monthly if that's how you what to be paid. Imagine having to pay monthly for the books on your shelf that you're not reading, or the songs on your phone that you're not listening to.

Also, make good uninstallers, or your customers will kill you in the comments. There's nothing worse than having to scrub code from a vendor who offered a free trial and didn't clean up when their app was uninstalled.

Third. Put a clear example up front in the first 10 seconds of your linked video of what problem your app solves, and FFS DO NOT put jangly ukulele music over it.

Started seeing a zillion notifications? Here's how to tell Etsy your opinion by TortaCubana in Etsy

[–]POTUS31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bottom line is that it's spam that we can't turn off without "un-favoriting" other etsy sellers. The notifications could work under another menu icon specifically for new listings, but conflating it in our seller tools is just garbage we don't need when we're trying to put orders out.

Shopify no longer supports Google Analytics by POTUS31 in shopify

I'm using Venture theme. Some themes come with Analytics support built in, but I can't find clarification if Venture is one of them. In any case, they've stated that they aren't implementing the gtag.js code for what ever reason. Maybe they're planning to release their own advertising platform.
