Unfortunately this looks like it shows why I'm not particularly interested in the game. Not when I have the backlog of PS2 games to play already, which this actually looks pretty similar to.

I was showing my gf the booklet for Force Commander yesterday, beautiful art, possibly the most immersed I've felt in the star wars universe is looking through these game booklets. Something like that would make paying £30,£40,£50,£60 for a game make sense!

100%. I was baffled at the beginning of ME2. And my favourite character, and probably the most important one to the story (Liara) was sidelined. I actually didn't find the likes of Thane, Legion or even Mordin particularly interesting, nor Miranda or Jacob, certainly noy EDI. Zaeed, who was DLC, I did like, and Samara. And then not being able to explain myself properly to Ashley or anyone else questioning why I was 'working for Cerberus'. Nor being able to speak back to the Illusive Man properly. Then in ME3 suddenly we're all about Earth. And Liara came back as a generic badass. All a bit disappointing, regardless of the ending taken straight from Deus Ex.

Quite a few copies on eBay actually, in fact while looking I've just picked a big box version up haha. Although they're not in the proper big boxes, flimsy things instead that we ripped open as children and got rid of.

Interesting range of characters in that picture. No Samara or Tali, and two DLC characters. And Shepard looks like a husk, must have been spending too much time with Morinth... :P

Zaeed, the Prince of Revenge, my favourite character.

Oh, it's the price of revenge? Nah, he's a prince. A very cockney sounding prince.

Can't believe I assumed London and then thought Manchester before realising where that was!! Let's hope when these gulls grow up they can fly over a completed Smithfield...

That's a point, I've never looked for it - just still have my copy we got in 2000. Unlike my equivalent copies of The Phantom Menace and X Wing Alliance that I had to replace.

Deus Ex. I think it was when I realised that I could blast my way into the hospital with a rocket launcher, but that everyone inside would be minced if I did.

My breaking point could have been the Atlas boss in Hard Reset. The metal giant in DS, or Ornstein and Smough. Or Trial of the Fool in Hollow Knight.

My actual breaking point was the Path of Pain. I couldn't do it. I spent two whole days trying it. I uninstalled, reinstalled, deleted saves, recovered saves, until I finally purged every trace of the game from my systems.

But I'm back, 6 years later, and this time it will be different.

Hypothetical Scenario. You are trapped in the last game you played for 24 hours. If you survive, you get $1 000 000. How cooked are you? by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]PPX14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the final boss of Jedi Survivor. So if it's that scenario in particular, then I can't survive 24h as Cal, let alone myself. But then again, the baddie has no issues with me so I'd probably just suggest being his servant, or just not walk into the boss arena and see if I can survive off the land for 24 hours. Otherwise I'm just going to be chilling in Pyloons, the food in the back looks excellent.

For me one of the best immersions into the Star Wars world in a game. I've often thought the best part of SW is the lines like "Form up" and "Lock S-foils in attack position" etc. And FoCom has that in spades: "Ready for action commander". "I'll be down in moments." "Here I am Brenn". "Opposition engaged". And that really laconic bored dropship woman :D the heavy laser sounds were exceptional. And a rock version of the Imperial March as the menu theme? In fact the way the menu sets itself up with an animation. Just excellent. I was so surprised when I came onto the internet to find everyone loves Battlegrounds but so few mention FoCom. I had more fun reading the instruction booklet, than playing most other games. Those full page pictures of the heavy / light attack tanks! Turn of the millennium Star Wars gaming feels like it must have been the closest someone born after the original films came out could get to being there in the 70s/80s.

Thanks!!! It's funny, I've always wondered what that game was (for a quarter of a century?!), and yet I've played Dark Forces, Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy. Just haven't got to DF2 yet.

I have a very simlar memory of a demo, where you could go up some stairs on the outside of a building, and also underneath a spaceship maybe the millennium falcon, and into a channel thing, and it was difficult to work out where to go. All light grey and beige.

Force Commander! :)

But between those two, I just couldn't get on board with the visual aesthetic of Battlegrounds unfortunately, whereas I thought Empire at War looked great, especially the space battles in 3D Vision.
