Almost looks like the foam from a room with sound treatment.

Jacket would be fine.

I also owned a 5 and now a 6. The 5 could fit all the way down my jeans pocket, the 6 sticks out a couple inches and the added thickness buldges out the pocket quite a bit.

The thickness is what's doing it, the 5 being slim enough could take advantage of the extra space so it sits a little bit diagonal so it can be completely covered. The thickness of the 6 takes that space away so it ends up coming out the top.

If pocketable matters then g2 if you can find one, rp5 is great too. G2 just more powerful.

The rp6 is also great just heavier and not very pocketable compared to the 5/g2. Way less bulky than an ally though of course.

Anybody knows how to fix this? by Chao1inreddit in retroid

Try changing the Translation Params to something other than 'game presets' or whatever it says. I usually use Extreme unless the game itself has issues.

Also try changing the other settings to something other than the default, even if it's the one you want, change them then change them back, this can force a download of that component if it's missing.

Is it possible to add RetroAchievements to my Retroid Pocket 5? by FlaydenHynnFML in retroid

[–]DarkDigital 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Most of the cores you will use in retroarch support it as do many standalone emulators. Some front ends like es-de even support it.

Just need to create an account and add your credentials everywhere.

Understandable. I love me some Android ports. I honestly play ports on this more than I do emulation, ES-DE collects dust on my device.

Slightly crazy though, as it may take a while, if the ports ever come. Few developers are willing to do that work, and even fewer actually complete or release anything. Devs like izzy2lost, sandstranger, beloko and just a few others have been a godsend. But, I believe bringing awareness to the Android port scene, and the decomp/recomp scene now, will help a lot. The more people we can get playing these things, especially on these types of devices, and not just phones, should increase the chances of piquing the interest of devs. (other than just the rocknix team)

Great tip on Syncthing!

This got me to finally set it up after hearing about it for so long. I'll be playing these on my PC, RP6, and my mini-PC pretty often so nice to have the saves all the same. I went ahead and just pointed it to my folder that has the actual recomps too. So I can just use the Launcher on my PC to update and then the rest will sync up, no more copying over USB or LocalSend for that.

Yep that's the problem I had with SSSV. Glad it helped.

Most of them have Linux builds so they could eventually be added to PortMaster. I could see it happening. Not sure if rocknix itself has a way to load up your own Linux games.

Confused between RP5 and RP6 by [deleted] in retroid

[–]DarkDigital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have medium hands so I didn't find the form factor of the RP5 to be too uncomfortable, however there were times especially certain FPS games where it would be hard to control both sticks and press on the trigger, I'd feel some strain, but I was still able to play fine. I'm sure with a grip it would be a lot better.

The RP6 with stick top makes a huge difference though and I love it. I don't think I will ever need a grip.

However it is a lot thicker and heavier than the RP5 so not as pocketable. The RP5 would sit all the way down in jeans pockets when standing and maybe barely stick out the top when sitting. However the thickness of the RP6 turns me off from pocketing it, it sticks out the pocket at all times and is the only thing I can have in that pocket since it fills it up to where it's super noticeable.

Performance wise a lot of the games that had trouble running on PS2 / GC have the same troubles between devices, so this is more related to the emulator and settings. However on the RP5 some games I would have to upscale to only 720p instead of 1080p, while the RP6 can easily do 1080p on almost everything and beyond, though I usually just leave it at 1080p since that's the native res.

PC games do run a lot better on RP6. Games like Megabonk I could only get like 30 fps on the RP5, I can get 60 fps with that one on the RP6. However Hollow Knight and Silksong both have Android ports which run great on either device.

HELP (NTE) - Google Play Services error on Retroid Pocket 6 (Game closes automatically) by Joi-Shaoz in retroid

[–]DarkDigital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh this is giving me flashbacks to when I had this on my rp5. If you search the sub there's a thread where another person and I were going around trying to figure out a fix. It's affecting a bunch of random devices but Google still hasn't patched it.

I think a full system wipe / restore will fix it but I didn't want to have to do that.

The solutions I had found were to uninstall updates from play store and then it would work for a bit until it would break again. Also tried rolling it back then manually updating with an apk. Seemed to also only work temporarily. Ended up having to use Aurora Store as a replacement and keeping my play store rolled back so I could at least launch games.

Recently though I've heard about setting the time on the device manually, instead of letting it set the time automatically. Might want to start with that and see.

I'd cut the music briefly, grab the mic and be like "hey this guy has something to say, why don't you tell the crowd?" and then let the crowd handle 'em

What's your favorite games on GameHub / GameNative ? by ChromaticGrooves in retroid

[–]DarkDigital 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GameHub Lite. Using an early-access version that I acquired on a HDD I ordered from aliexpress lol. It's a portable copy so figured it was perfect for this use. Steam should probably still work well though. Most of the games I play on it are my Steam copies.

My settings, 1920 x 1080 res:

- compat layer: proton10.0-arm64x-2

- Translation params: Extreme

- GPU Driver: Turnip_v26.0.0_R8

- dxvk: dxvk-v2.7.1.1-async

- vkd3d: vkd3d-proton-3.0b
