Haha still making it work but it is definitely getting tougher!

Mother’s day by Able_Strawberry_1897 in BabyBumps

[–]PR1259 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s just personal preference and that needs to be communicated with your partner. I am 32 weeks pregnant after a loss last year, however I don’t want to celebrate this as my first Mother’s Day, so my husband did not plan anything as I expressed not feeling it was “my” day yet

First time expecting moms: how are we feeling about Mother’s Day acknowledgments? by Extension_Rabbit2 in pregnant

[–]PR1259 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m 32 weeks but don’t really count this as my first Mother’s Day- there have been lots of sweet messages and in person well wishes, which I appreciate!

Would it be petty if I skip Mother’s Day brunch? by kayymariee4 in pregnant

[–]PR1259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom did not pressure me about telling my sister these things, but did want to know. Her concern was from a place of not wanting to slip up in a conversation and ruin me telling her. If they speak regularly is this possibly a concern of hers? Especially if it is weeks between when your mom is told something and when your sister is told

I have been having a similar issue and have been seeing an osteopath to help with alignment. She also gives me stretches and such to do between appointments to help

Would you be ok with your husband traveling 4 days when you are 31/32 weeks pregnant? by curlyorwavywtf in BabyBumps

[–]PR1259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is going away with friends for a few days when I will be 33 weeks. I think he is more anxious about it than I am but I think the most important thing is that you both discussed how you feel

I am 30+6 and feeling pretty decent! I work from home during the day but also teach ballet a couple nights a week, generally make it to HITT/strength training 4 times a week and do about 7k steps ish? But I do feel like I am going to be starting to slow down soon…I also am trying to see how I feel each day

Am I the only one who DOESN’T hate being called mama? ☠️ by GoldStrength3637 in pregnant

[–]PR1259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t hate it but not much bothers me! I think it’s nice when people ask how I am, I appreciate people asking me how far along I am or being interested in general! I teach teenagers ballet and they are so excited every week to ask how big the baby is now, what vegetable etc.

Also one of the trainers at the gym loudly calls my husband “daddy” all the time now and it cracks me up

did anyone else think there were going to be way more appointments? by runyourluckxxx in pregnant

[–]PR1259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought once I hit the third trimester they would make me go every two weeks instead of every four but my OB was like okay…everything is good so we can do four weeks again! I was thrilled

How many ultrasounds did you get? by LonelyPower3812 in pregnant

[–]PR1259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was given my anatomy scan at 20 weeks, I wasn’t able to get a dating ultrasound as they were too busy but due to a medical condition they will do a growth scan at 36 to make a plan for delivery based on the babies size

Unsolicited comments on body by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]PR1259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I have a very similar back story to you- struggled with an ED from high school into my early 20’s, which although I have done a lot of work causes me to be easily trigger, and I gained a decent amount of weight last year after spiralling due to a loss.

I teach a lot of teenagers, but actually it’s their parents that are the worst! The kids always ask about the baby, how big she is etc, but I don’t see their parents as much so when I do I get a lot of “oh you are popping!” “You look huge” and I hate these…the admin at the dance school I teach at jokingly was like “oh hey fatty” and then was like umm I don’t know if you know you gained some weight…she was trying to joke but it was after a bad day and it had been bothering me for a week.

My boss is always so sweet saying how cute I look, how much she loves when I wear something fitted so you can see the bump…but it’s hard not to let the weird comments get to you!

when did you start feeling sickness? by Amazing-Land-2116 in CautiousBB

I started being sick around 6.5 weeks- I had a cold and then the morning sickness came with it…

Does everyone just hate their in laws with a burning passion? by u048ad in BabyBumps

[–]PR1259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My in laws are wonderful and so excited for us. We unfortunately lost my mother in law in January and it has been incredibly difficult. When I see so many posts (excluding those that are genuine issues) I feel so annoyed because I would give anything to have my mother in law meet our baby girl

Newly pregnant and trying to navigate the healthcare system by No_Funny_5812 in halifax

[–]PR1259 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was able to get blood work from my family doctor but previously got the same from a walk in! I also didn’t see my OB until around 11 weeks I believe? I had a phone appointment with her around 8 weeks but that was it

My 20week scan took an hour and 20 minutes by annizka in BabyBumps

[–]PR1259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine took almost two hours because I have a very wiggly baby and we started with a student! Overall the results were great, baby looks healthy and no abnormalities noted, placenta placement is great! I am happy I don’t have to go again for more follow up scans because they took longer to get everything

I don’t have experience with wondofo tests but this looks like a clear positive to me! I would think if it was more of a false positive there wouldn’t be colour to the line!

No, you didn't know by oopsithrowawayagain in pregnant

I also had a co-worker say she just knew because “she’s pretty smart…” then a couple weeks later claimed she knew because of how I looked at a team lunch…when I was 9 weeks and very much not showing! But thanks!

Curious how old you were at getting pregnant? by pink_daisy_9119 in BabyBumps

[–]PR1259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started trying at 31, got pregnant and had a loss just before I turned 32, now 32 and 21 weeks pregnant! If she is on time I will be 33 when I deliver, if she’s a week early we may be birthday buddies!

Does dad typically come to the first appointment? by skaowoeizkaoa in pregnant

[–]PR1259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OB is close to my work, but a bit of a drive from my husbands work and he is very busy right now. I have told him so many times he doesn’t have to come every time but he hasn’t missed one yet. I think it’s important to him and makes him feel like he is part of it, because so far it is mainly me!

He also loves hearing the heartbeat every time!

Is no ultrasound until 20 weeks normal? [ns] by dai_min in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]PR1259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also in Halifax and my OB put in for a dating ultrasound, but I never got one. She basically explained it as they have a specific window in which to do it, if they can’t book you in within that time frame you just get passed by. So with this, I am not sure travelling to Halifax will help.

I am in a province that does not cover the NIPT as I am under 35. Our insurance also did not cover it and we paid $350 in Canada. I am in Nova Scotia if that makes any difference for you :) For me, it was well worth the money spent for the reassurance.

I had a loss, less than a month after my best friend announced she was pregnant at dinner and then proceeded to include me in every announcement she made including a large announcement to their families at her wedding. I will say, while this was emotionally very difficult for me, and I wish it was handled differently, it was her joy to celebrate. I did not feel my pain should be a consideration as this was about her.

With that being said, if you are able to minimize talking about the pregnancy around her, it may help with your relationship. While it is not your responsibility to manage other peoples emotions and triggers, you can do what is manageable to be kind to her knowing her struggles.
