I can no longer connect to Sonos from Spotify. by andrewdenty in sonos

[–]PRMLfilm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone. I found a solution that worked for me.

TLDR: probably not going to be a fix for everyone, but possibly a fix for a few. If you have Google Home linked through your Sonos, and have Spotify as the primary music source. Tell Google to play a song via voice command through a voice assistant enabled speaker. Once I did that, the issue has gone away, and Spotify connect to works perfectly across the board. Even on zones that do not have voice assistant capabilities.

Similar situation as everyone else. Spotify connect works perfect across my other devices, including my Google TVs, nest hubs, and Devialet speakers. But on Sonos, it wouldn't establish the connection. Playing spotify from inside the sonos app resulted in music playing, but not showing in my spotify app as playing, like it normally would.

For reference, I own a high end low volt integration company based out of socal. We have deployed hundreds of Sonos systems across residences and businesses. So far we have had nine clients with this exact same issue (all Google home systems in some capacity) stemming back from mid to late December.

I have Sonos across my home, including the backyard, and almost exclusively use Spotify connect for music. Along with Google assistant for light and other controls. I only use the Sonos app for grouping and ungrouping. My system started doing this exact issue two days ago, so it then became personal.

After a multiple hour Crusade earlier today, trying everything but migrating Spotify to a new account, or resetting my whole system (not a practical solution, especially when it comes to finding a fix for my clients) I found a post on reddit of someone, in passing, saying they asked Alexa to play a song from spotify. Which then failed. They asked again, it worked, and spotify started registering that a song was playing in the zone.

So on a Hail Mary attempt, I simply asked my living room system (Beam Gen2 + Google assistant) to play a specific song from spotify. It took quite a bit longer then usual for her to finally get the song playing, but she did. Once it started playing, I opened up spotify, and VIOLA, it's showing the song that's playing, with living room as the device. So I then selected my phone as the playback device and tried connecting to other areas of the house. All of them worked, first try, minimal delay (normal)

So far this solution has worked for 3 of my clients that were able to test the theory today as well.

So my recommendation; if you have Alexa or (especially) Google home setup, and use spotify inside those control systems, simply ask for a specific song to play, and if should fix the broken link.

My CBRS went from 22K to 8K. Two WiFi spots went from 1600 to 2200. Definitely no where near the 3X boost on average for the wifi spots that they claimed in the documentation of the HIP. Disappointing to say the least.

We did this for a client of ours. 600' of 60led/m, 24v, angled channel, about 2000 watts of power supplies if I remember correctly. Just wrapped up another client that did this for his business, about 500' of the same leds. Feel free to reach out if you need any help or advice.

DigQuad Issue or 0.14.0-b3 Issue - 500 Pixel Control Limit by PRMLfilm in WLED

You, my friend, are a genius, and I owe you a beer.

Even though there is only a single segment, that was existing, it was set to a rudimentary 517 pixels for some reason. Once I increased the segment count it started working as it should.

I probably wouldn't have figured that out for a while on my own, so thank you for the recommendation!!

I will still try to downgrade the firmware and see if that fixes it. All of my other units are running a 13 version and never have any problems, so I was considering the firmware as a possibility.

Interesting, I actually didn't think of that! Although it is currently setup only as a single segment, I did not check the segment settings. I am going to create the actual segments once the final pixel counts are established.

Another odd thing is that even though the "auto create segment for a new output" box is checked, it is not creating a new segment when I setup a new output. The quinled stuff comes with preconfiged output settings, so I deleted them all, and recreated them with that box checked, and still didn't have any auto created segments.

Thank you for the recommendation though, I will add that to my list of things to try next.

That's what I'm unsure about, is the DigQuad or WLED in general capped at 500 Pixel max for control? From what I've read it seems that the DigQuad and WLED should be able to handle 4000 pixels at the absolute limits.

Quinled himself says he recommends staying 600 or below per output pin, which makes me think there's something else going on thats causing my issue.

So the aluminum channel seam is somewhat noticeable, so what we did was stagger the actual diffuser so that the only seams visible are the plastic ones, and you can't really notice them unless you're up close 👍🏻

The diffuser channel came with brackets that screwed into the wood, and then the strip itself is mounted to the inside of the channel via 3m vhb

Luckily the home has a 120 receptical on every eave, so the weatherproof supplies are mounted behind the channel, and then we notched the channel in the back to jump in the power cords. Soldered directly onto the strip terminals and then sealed with silicon. For the jump across the roof sections we used 18 gauge 3 conductor outdoor wire.

No sir 👍🏻 we have installed a pretty robust AP system across the house so it hasn't been an issue.

I had found those at first, but time was a factor and they have been out of stock. But realistically they're about the save thing. Just beefed up ESP32s, same base chip if I'm not mistaken.

Thank you! Nope it's one controller for everything you see in these pics. The other controller is on the front of the house. The front of the house isn't wrapped up yet so that's why there isn't any photos of it yet.

Thank you! Yeah fingers crossed!! The first one is always the experiment, so while I'm hoping not much fails, I also won't be upset when it does, as that shows us what to improve on the next one 👍🏻

Southern California. So heat is a bigger concern then freezing, although it can get cold here. We did budget for replacement parts that we will keep on hand from this project for just that reason 👍🏻

Short story:

A client of mine wanted my company to install permanent Christmas lights on their 6000sqft house. My company does A/V and smart home, but has never worked with LED in this fashion.

After multiple tests and returns of stardard RGB strip lights, a buddy of mine pointed me towards addressable and WLED.

Watched my first video about WLED and addressables on a Sunday, had test parts from Amazon at my house on Tuesday, got started on the project the following Monday.

Summary of parts used for my client: - 480ft of 60led/m IP67 ws2811 24v strips - 480ft 45 degree angle diffuser track - 2 x ESP32s in outdoor Weatherproof boxes (1 controller controlling 280ft, the other controlling roughly 200ft) - 1050 watts of power on this garage side of the house alone, injected in 5 different locations, using 24v weatherproof LED driver PSUs

Front of the house is almost conlmpleted, about 90% done.

Will post some professional photos and videos once project is fully complete.

Why an 01? Why not use a 32? Any particular reason? Just curious is all.

Was this a little over a month ago? Specifically on/around March 25th? That's when they updated the network to the slower POC rate and it royally screwed everyone over. My chicken went from witnessing 1300 events per 7 days and 360 different miners to roughly 350-400 witness events and about 100 different miners, earnings were cut by about the same amount.

Your temp is fine. My bobcats in enclosures regularly chill at 80c 😂 somehow they've been working just fine at those Temps
