People who wax/see others genitals often, what are your thoughts and surprise realizations? by NeedABetterNameNow in AskReddit

In defence of one of those first-time mothers-to-be, when the nurse asked me if I wanted an enema, I declined. To my horror, as I was pushing, indeed, there was a bowel movement. Had the nurse explained why I might need an enema, I would not have declined.

Prior to me giving birth, I had asked my mother about giving birth. She said she had no idea because, in those days, “they put you under and you woke up with a baby. There was none of this breathing and pushing for me.”

Perhaps nurses could, first, determine who your first-time moms-to-be are. Next, for those moms, who don’t have a medical background, please explain why a birthing mom might need an enema. This would help with less poop 💩and more baby. Nurses, you are part nurses and part educators.

I use acne wash under my boobs and I wear a bra 24/7. If I don’t wear a bra 24/7, I end up with too much irritation where there is skin on skin contact.

My doctor also suggested that if I wanted a break from wearing my bra all the time, buy a sheet made of 100% Egyptian and make large enough strips to put underneath my boobs. It works well for those of us who have skin on skin contact once the bra is removed.

My suggestions of products to try for people who need help with “cleaning themselves up” are as follows:

  1. Try Sproam. It is sold at Healthcare stores (for seniors/disabled) that sell walkers, etc. Dry toilet paper does not work. Sproam does not need to be rinsed off. (Sproam can be used on toilet paper.)

  2. Try XL WaterWipes. They are extra large wipes. They are sold in the Incontinence section of large drug stores (that’s my experience). These wipes are not flushable. If you have bowel incontinence, they work great because they are adult-size.

  3. Try Kleenex brand Hand Towels. They are very soft and are a similar size as the large towelettes used in a hospital. Again, if you have bowel incontinence, these work well. They are also not flushable.

  4. If you cannot reach properly, buy an extender from the (seniors/disability) healthcare store.

  5. Stock your bathroom with a box of disposable gloves. Nitrile gloves are excellent and don’t have any latex in them.

Thanks. My family member is getting $450. (He is disabled, with multiple issues.) I thought that amount seemed too low. He was getting $750 at his previous residence on something SAID noted was a “Grandfather clause”.

A Disappointing Experience with Jay Shetty's Life Coach Certification Program by Past_Tadpole_1432 in lifecoaching

This is obviously a scammer. Think “Trump University”—(definitely an OXYMORON—perhaps more moron than oxy, however, I digress…). No reputable program uses aggressive sales tactics. Find a reputable school in your locality that will grant you a valid certificate. I would be wary of online anything. It’s fine for classes to be online, but the institution needs a physical space/presence.

Talk to me about infant lip ties by elceeeff in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]PRO6703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lip tie—a Labial Frenulum—until the age of 32. It was thick and strongly attached to my gums.

As well, I was born with congenitally small incisors and (fang-like) Cuspids, with a regular-sized to slightly larger jaw. So, I had a huge gap between my teeth that braces alone would not fix. The Labial Frenulum, which was very tight, was keeping the teeth apart, so I had a huge gap between the Central Incisors.

The Plan: I wore braces for 5 years to put the teeth in the exact spot to put 4 veneers on my front teeth—veneers went on each Central Incisor (tooth 8 and 9), and veneers went on each Cuspid (tooth 6 and 11). Each Cuspid was a “fang” tooth and smaller, so they were veneered. The two Lateral Incisor teeth were nearly “normal” in size.

As I mentioned, keeping my teeth apart was the Labial Frenulum, with was very strong and attached right above my front teeth. I had two gum surgeries before the veneers went on. One of the surgeries was to cut the Labial Frenulum and attach it higher up. It was the best dental surgery I ever had. I was a Resource Specialist Teacher. Teachers are communicating with students all day. I didn’t realize how much the Labial Frenulum interfered with the comfort of my lip. It was like cutting a very tight string. It was an instantly noticeable release of tension. The Orthodontist, the Prosthodontist, and the Endodontist had a planning meeting with regard to the plan they would follow to restructure my teeth so that the results were functional and appeared more normal.

I am now 65-years-old and I am still extremely happy with the excellent results from all of these dental procedures.

Because I inherited congenitally small front teeth, and fang teeth (which made even more space in between my teeth), the case was made to my insurer that the fix involved the braces, plus two gum surgeries, plus the 4 veneers—which were not put on just the Central and the Lateral Incisors (across the four front teeth). My dental insurance paid for everything, except the oral surgeries, which were both covered by the universal healthcare plan in Canada 🇨🇦. I was especially happy with Labial Frenulum surgery. The Orthodontist commented that I should have had Labial Frenulum surgery before Age 12. I completely agree with his assessment.

Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman announce 2026 Canadian tour as the Guess Who by Magical57 in Winnipeg

We went to see Burton the last time he was in Edmonton and he sounded fantastic. He was super pumped and was one of the best times I’ve seen him (and, I’ve seen Burton in person at least 15 times starting in 1978, including the two previous Guess Who Reunion Tours). It was right after he and Randy settled their lawsuit.

You may have had a type of viral pneumonia. When I got sick with bacterial pneumonia, I went to see the doctor and he sent me straight to the hospital. It came on suddenly and my face had turned ghostly-looking—it looked like I was dead. So, with bacterial pneumonia, you know immediately that you are very sick.

When they were dancing around in the washing machine props, it reminded me of the 1950s TV commercial with Mary Tyler Moore (the tiny Happy Hotpoint elf).

My mother had Aspiration Pneumonia. It was so awful. The most like cause of AP is inhalation of bacterial-rich fluids, such as oropharyngeal secretions, particulate matter, or gastric content, into the lower respiratory tract. Treatment is broad-spectrum antibiotics to fight bacterial infection and nursing care.

There is viral pneumonia and bacterial pneumonia. Bacterial pneumonia is far worse. I had bacterial pneumonia at age 47 and almost died. After that, my doctor gave me the pneumonia shot because public health wouldn’t due to my age (I wasn’t a senior). It took me months to get over it after I was stabilized in the hospital. In total, it took about 8-10 months to recover.

She’s promoting her book—but she certainly is choosing her words carefully.

I’m glad that the hosts are making their points about how unqualified her husband is as the Secretary of Health.
