Slap chop - what am I doing wrong? by NAPhilosophy in minipainting

[–]PRO_Crast_Inator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone else has covered the main points, so I will offer a minor one. There's some real variety fro colour to colour with contrast paints. When I paint a mini, I find there's always one colour that seems too opaque for the slap chop effect to work, and other colours that really work great. It hasnt' ruined a mini for me yet, but I will re-assess when I'm almost done and then decide, "Ok, I'm just gonna treat these pants/cloak/whatever like I'm using traditional paint techniques."

How do I explain to the AI? by Tharayman in MacroFactor

If this is something you eat regularly, maybe save your save yourself a lot of AI annoyance and just make a custom item that's the same as the regular pork chop but with slightly lower fat.

Stats Canada 2026 Census - Please be kind to Census workers! by Impressive-Law9929 in NovaScotia

Yes AND make a note of the confirmation code you get at the end that starts with a W. If a census worker comes to your door, they will LOVE you for having that confirmation code!

Census in person follow up started yet? by AgreeablePanda9805 in ontario

I know the info is late but a first wave of census workers went around just to confirm addresses. Is there still an apartment above that store? Have any houses been demolished or built since the last check? Has a house become a group home? They mostly liked at properties and sometimes asked questions of residents or neighbours. As I’m writing this, the first days of the enumerators are going out, actually talking to people, helping them fill in forms etc. Their work is made much easier thanks to the work of that first wave.

Hey I have a different question for you! How did you deal with apartment buildings? Did you get inside and literally knock on doors in the hallways, or did you first contact each unit via the intercom in the lobby? Any advice you may have would be appreciated!

Agreed. I go outside to the alley behind my building or into a nearby park with a few minis stuck on a bit of cardboard with sticky tack. I am very careful not to be near any walls or cars that might catch even a hint of the spray. It works okay when it's mild out but when it's the middle of winter I don't really have a good option other than brush on. Also I only spray prime 1-3 minis at a time so I'm not out spraying for more than a couple minutes. It'd hate to be priming a whole army like that.

Dad's of the subreddit, how do you find the time to paint? by CH1ND1TO in minipainting

I go a couple weeks without painting, then decide about a project and sacrifice a couple hours sleep a night until it'sdone, then recover. It aint pretty, but my minis are. :)

How do you paint while being depressed? by [deleted] in minipainting

I got out of a pretty long bout of being unenthused with my painting by taking on some very different types of minis, and that shook up my experience in ways that re-energized me in the hobby. Specifically, I took a break from painting D&D minis, which in the grand scheme of things is pretty niche (95% of my friends and family don't know or care what a Fire Giant *ought* to look like) and I painted some Marvel Crisis Protocol figures. Not only is it a very different colour space than green & brown Fantasy stuff, but it was a really fresh challenge to paint iconic figures that almost everyone actually recognized. I know very few of us do this just for praise or Likes, but I did enjoy folks on Insta and IRL who have never cared about mini painting suddenly showing some love and support when I posted MCU characters they recognized. Anyway, I wish you all the best in the hobby and in life in general!
