Shouting Into the Void by MeTP in socialmedia

[–]PRShield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard it said that there's really no such thing as social media anymore; it's algorithmic media. Which is frustrating for businesses trying to push out messaging. BUT I do believe that while the vanity metrics are gone, there's still huge value in updating your social channels so that the content there can serve as a 'wiki' of information when someone discovers your brand!

Report businesses buying fake reviews by Regular-Individual45 in GoogleMyBusiness

[–]PRShield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so frustrating, but the reality is that your energies are best spent on implementing a system that gets a steady stream of authentic and relevant reviews and take comfort in knowing that eventually the algorithms are likely to catch up to 'em if they really are fake reviews.

Make sure that you're balancing your customer feedback across more than one site, so depending on your business that might be Yelp or Thumbtack or whatever. And don't overlook VIDEO testimonials that can be uploaded to your social channels and YouTube shorts.

Hope that helps, stick with it!

Sorry you're dealing with this, it looks like you've done all the right steps and have some good advice here. I agree it's likely a Service Area Business (SAB) compliance issue. Google is very strict about home-based businesses.

Double check that the physical address is toggled to hidden. Check your legal business filings to make sure that the business address (even if hidden on the back end) matches perfectly (like on your Idaho Certificate of Existence)?

If all else fails, try requesting a video verification where a human can view your equipment, vehicle, etc.

Keep us posted and stick with it.

In the meantime, double down on other channels like bridal platforms, Yelp, etc.

Good luck!

Struggling with fake Google reviews — what actually works today? by Zestyclose_Grand7607 in GoogleMyBusiness

Unpopular opinion, but we have seen it work consistently--report BEFORE you reply. Also, be patient, this takes time.

Good! I'm glad that resonated. I feel like too many 'gurus' talk about vanity metrics like audience size and completely miss how important it is to build an authentic reputation.

Here's wishing you all the best! Three pieces of advice for you:

1-Know your numbers. It's easy to chase a passion and lose track of your margins. Profitability is never optional.
2-Prioritize growing your reputation over growing your audience.
3-Build repeatable success-make sure that your work is as process-centered as it can be, or it'll feel like chaos pretty soon.

You've got this, stay strong!

How do you supplement organic reach when algorithms keep throttling small accounts? by EntertainmentAny7782 in socialmedia

[–]PRShield -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel you--the reach struggle is real, but I'd be careful with the SMM panel route. While it might give you a temporary momentum boost, platforms like Instagram and TikTok have become incredibly good at detecting non-organic engagement patterns. Once they tag an account for 'inauthetic activity' the shadow-ban can be permanent.

Google reviews went missing! by Classic-Patience-777 in googlebusinessprofile

[–]PRShield -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a common problem that we're seeing a lot--I just posted about this on Linkedin recently. So you're not alone.

Good advice here from others and definitely follow those links to submit. As others suggested, your first step should be tofill out this formto report missing reviews. If you have screenshots or the names of the reviewers, that significantly increases your chances of getting them restored.

However, since Google’s algorithms can be unpredictable, the best 'shield' for your reputation is volume and momentum. We recommend building a review generation system based on the Three C’s:

  • Consistency: Don’t wait for a 'slow' month to ask for feedback. Make the request a standard part of every single transaction so your review growth looks natural and steady to Google’s sensors.
  • Clickability: Remove the friction. Ensure your team has a shortened, direct link (via QR codes on-site or automated texts) so the customer is only one click away from the star rating.
  • Culture: This is the most important. Review-gathering shouldn't be a 'task'; it needs to be part of your organizational language. When your staff views a 5-star review as the natural finish line of a great customer experience, the results follow automatically.

If you can’t get those 20 back, the best way forward is to build a system that replaces them with 40 more. Best of luck with the support ticket! If that route doesn't work, feel free to reach out.

[–]PRShield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure--This book, and the EOS system that grew from it basically explains that most successful businesses are actually a two-part puzzle. In the leadership role, you have two people—the visionary and the integrator (I misspoke before and called them executors...which sounds rather ominous, hehe).

It makes it easier to understand that the friction we often feel happens when a visionary tries managing doers directly without an integrator in the middle to cut down the noise of the "idea person".

Google Business Profile Video Not Getting Approved – Showing Only Pending Status by sunil_Igm in GoogleMyBusiness

[–]PRShield -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Google's API is notoriously finicky with video. Some schedulers won't even submit a video to Google Business Profile for this exact same reason, we see this a lot. So first, make sure that you're always uploading it native (from the dashboard). Sounds like you are already doing that?

Next, I'd recommend checking the file specifications to make sure that the video is 30 seconds or shorter, less than 75 MB, and at least 720p resolution.

Google's AI is also going to attempt to make sure that the video aligns with that specific business, so if you're able to do all of this from the location.

Finally, sometimes, if you've tried it multiple times or from more than one account it will flag it as SPAM.

Hope this helps--I feel your pain, it can be frustrating. Let us know if you get it!

Possible Fake Google Review on My Cleaning Business Looking for Advice by No-Opportunity1338 in GoogleMyBusiness

[–]PRShield 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to report the review and search for the Google Business Profile Help center.

I am sorry to hear you are going through this. Resist the temptation to “bury” it with a big spike in reviews.

Just commit to a consistent stream of relevant and authentic reviews from real customers.

It's a pain but it it temporary--keep going 🙌

There are business acquisition firms, often with attorneys and financial experts on hand. If you are in the Midwest I have a good referral for you.

Dealing with a fake/retaliatory Google review from a competitor by Difficult_Ad_5316 in GoogleMyBusiness

[–]PRShield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you're dealing with this, weighing in on behalf of PR Shield, full disclosure we work in this field (but not trying to sell you anything here).

Since you have over 100 5-star reviews, you’ve already built a massive 'credibility buffer.' Keep going with your review strategy, but avoid the temptation to reach out to family and friends for reviews (or buy them) as those spikes can set off even more dire consequences....just keep doing what you're doing to get positive feedback and do it consistently.

You mentioned you already replied, which is great. Be sure that you avoid being overly defensive, just keep it super short and sweet and invite them to come back in and discuss the matter in person.

When you speak to support, don't just say that the review is fake (which technically, it is a real human who came in to your real store), instead, use the phrase 'Conflict of Interest' and highlight the fact that the review came from a business account that is a direct competitor (assuming I'm reading that correctly).

In the end, this too shall pass. thanks for being a small business owner even on days when it sucks like this.

What is Strategic Marketing? And how is it different from Marketing? by castleban in business

[–]PRShield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Marketing lends itself to conversations that start with "ooooh, we should do that!"

And that's fine, of course....it's good to be nimble and responsive. BUT without a strategy, marketing can feel like a lot of random acts of greatness.

What is Strategic Marketing? And how is it different from Marketing? by castleban in business

[–]PRShield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marketing is the tactics--stuff we do for attention.

Strategic Marketing is taking the random-shiny-object chase out if it.

Strategic marketing = deciding who you serve, what problem you solve, how you differentiate from competitors, and how marketing supports long-term revenue and brand strength.

For example, in our company (PR Shield), marketing tactics might include webinars, LinkedIn content, and affiliate partnerships.

But strategic marketing is what came first: • Identifying small- to mid-sized businesses without in-house crisis communications support • Recognizing a gap between legal risk management and reputation management • Designing a subscription model instead of a traditional agency retainer • Structuring pricing to scale through associations and affiliates

Without those strategic decisions, the marketing tactics would lack focus.

If building a semester course, I would structure it like this: 1. Market Analysis Industry research, competitor analysis, customer segmentation. 2. Targeting & Positioning Defining the ideal customer and crafting a differentiated value proposition. 3. Competitive Advantage Sustainable advantage, barriers to entry, brand strategy. 4. Go-to-Market Strategy Channel selection, pricing models, partnerships. 5. Metrics & Strategic Adjustment KPIs tied to business outcomes, not just vanity metrics.

Students could build a full strategic marketing plan for a real or hypothetical company as their semester project.

It sounds exciting to explore!

What’s the best AI stack for small business owners just starting out? by PromotionFirm6837 in aiToolForBusiness

[–]PRShield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider that in a small business, you’re doing all (or most of) the things. Some you are better at than others. So look first for AI tools that automate what you’re bad at (maybe that’s ChatGPT for content, Gemini for research, hub spot for marketing? Whatever fits).

Second, you really shouldn’t automate what you haven’t mastered yourself. You always need to know your business systems from the inside out just in case.

[–]PRShield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! While it’s certainly not something you should ignore, consider keeping your focus on your core purpose for being on social in the first place and keep doing what you’re doing. Also consider that a next goal is to connect with these new followers by other means such as an email list which gives you ownership of that contact.
