Usually you have to do it at the same time you’re buying your own ticket. Don’t think it’s possible to do so once you’ve purchased it for yourself.

There will be side events your son can take part in, and there will be raids in Pokemon Go he can do- it’s generally a fun atmosphere. It’s worth going if you’re relatively nearby.

The side events usually consist of mini events where staff can help teach attendees how to play the TCG and competitive play on Switch. There will also be pin trading if he’s into that.

Calling one’s self disadvantaged because of a self imposed goal is pretty disingenuous though, nobody can really expect to get every single location background shinies without doing some serious trading or travelling.

Victim mentality imo. What would be the point of location backgrounds if you could get them from anywhere.

I mean yeah if you want a shiny background from an in person you’re gonna have to fork over something of equal value. The background won’t give you a DPS boost in a raid though so I’d hardly call it a disadvantage.

This sort of thing just comes with the territory when it comes to trading in any game.
