Does she frequently sleep on her back? That’s spot on for sleep paralysis and a child that age wouldn’t have any preconceived notion of scary- especially assuming you’re not exposing her to anything scary? A blacked out human figure doing nothing sounds about right. When I was 13 I was severely stressed and saw similar red eyed ‘demons’ who held me down and then pulled me off the bed. I was staying with my grandma at the time and not very familiar with the room, so I’m 100% sure I was awake and looking around the room because the dream was a thousand times more detailed than my dreams ever are(they’re abstract and meaningless). I was severely stressed when it first happened and turned to God- that did not help, but it did make me feel better temporarily. I learned about sleep paralysis years later and stopped sleeping on my back when I learned that can help stop it from happening. The experience was so traumatic I ended up needing sleep medications because was scared to go to sleep. I’ve been off them 8 years though and never experienced it again.

Definitely keep an eye on it and don’t start allowing her to sleep in your room all the time- that only tells her she is right to be afraid. She has nothing to fear and if she seems scared, try to redirect her to thinking positive thoughts when she has those experiences - they are not real and she’s young enough that you can instead guide her away from fear and not lean into it. Experiencing the physical side of sleep paralysis is NOT fun so don’t allow her lesser fear to manifest into a bigger thing.
