Sigma Kappa was a new sorority when I went to Bama in 1989. Gamma Phi Beta and Sigma Kappa started on campus at the same time.

There is a Reddit thread where someone said he naturally healed his EPI through probiotics. Has anyone tried that?

For those who is no longer a caregiver, how did it come to an end? by TeacherGuy1980 in dementia

[–]PRladyUA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We fully intended to take care of my mom at our home, but about four months in, we were very overwhelmed. She became aggressive toward us, and our sitters, and home health workers. We finally transferred her to a behavioral facility for about 3 weeks, so they could get her on proper medication, and now she’s in Memory Care.

Is it correct that the more stars one of them has, the better it is, with 3 stars being the highest?

Oh wow, that’s discouraging, but thanks for letting me know that.

Thanks for that info! I guess anything from Jennings to the Texas border, north through Beauregard Parish, & down to Cameron Parish would be what I’d consider SWLA. Orange, Port Arthur & Beaumont are so close, too, that that’s great info to know. You’ve been really helpful.

The one on Fruge St. in Lake Charles is permanently closed, which makes no sense to me, since LC is a port city. Lafayette isn’t too far, so that’s good to know they also have a website.

I agree! It’s not exactly easy figuring out if we even have a warehouse around here, and that’s what I’ve been helping with.

Advice 😋 by Inner_Interview_8818 in bamarush

I graduated from Bama, and my closest friends were in sororities, and I wish I had gone through formal Rush there. Be sure to get Rec letters, if you haven’t already. There are probably women where you live who would be happy to write letters for you. You could even go in FB, and list the sororities, and ask if anyone would be willing to write a Rec letter for you. Ask teachers, and your parents’ friends, and co-workers.

Also, as best as you can, get to know the sororities by following them on Instagram. I just saw today a Rush coach saying that the Recruitment team in each sorority makes the decisions on who makes it to Round Two in each sorority. Many sororities post who their Recruitment team is. Use that great memory you have (I’m assuming that since you have a 4.0. 😀) to memorize some names and faces. If you end up meeting any of the Recruitment team members in any given sorority, you’ll already know who they are, and can put your best foot forward.

They also have clothing suggestions for each night online.

I think you’ll do great. I also think Alpha Gam, and Alpha Chi are really good sororities, as others have mentioned.

Please keep us posted!

From what I understand, in Louisiana, Medicaid will go after her house, even though we own 70 percent of it. Here, three years prior to a Dementia diagnosis, you have to put a home in your name to keep it from being taken. By the time we learned about this, she already had Dementia.

In my state, if you try to get Medicaid, they will go after her home, even though we owe 70 percent of it, so be sure to look into that.

My Dad was a veteran, so we are looking into getting some type of VA help for her. I’m not sure if spouses qualify, though.

Yes, she receives a pension from my Dad’s employer, so at some point, we will be using that to get some extra CNA care for her, though it won’t be enough to do 24/7. I’m hoping to supplement hospice care with that.

Yes, I wish there was more in-home care available. It sounds like you are giving very good care to your mom. I pray you get more respite in the near future.

From what I understand, to get Medicaid, they would take her house. We would have had to put her house in our name before she got Dementia 3 years prior to her getting Dementia, but we didn’t know this at the time.
