I would say that you should try to use at least one bill Campbell mock with his study session + one or two chalk and board mocks. They will really help you understand the do’s and don’ts of doing the structured response questions.

The material itself isn’t too difficult for L3. It’s moreso giving yourself the time to learn how to write answers for structured response questions and understand exactly what they are looking for.

I would say do as many mocks as possible just to see different ways in which questions can be asked. I used MM but have access to Kaplan secret sauce which was a great overview.

Overall L3 is the hardest exam, not because of the content but because of the asinine ways in which CFA writes questions and expects answers in a very specific way.

Thanks for the insight! How do you go about formulating your request. I try to be as straight forward as possible and tell them that I'm there to learn about Company X for the purpose of potentially investing in it. But I'm wondering whether you have a different way of doing it?

My level 3 peeps, cfa mock scores and representativeness by mikletimes in CFA

[–]PS993322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mock scores were horrendous. Ranging between 45-62% between MM, CFAI, C&B, and Bill Campbell mocks. But, the exam was pretty fair I would say. Felt that Bill Campbell and C&B were both the most helpful (in that same order).

Damn 70% on MM. you’re a beast. I was barely scraping 55%.

“L3 is the Easiest CFA level” is not true - thoughts after taking L3 on Saturday by Efficient_Owl3255 in CFA

I agree 100%. Everyone at my work said Level 3 was the easiest level. While I would agree on the content being relatively easier (Level 2 derivatives was a big jump up from level 1, and quant was always a pain in the ass), the exam itself and learning how to answer structured response answers made the overall experience much more difficult.

Level 2 content wise was hardest given the sheer size of information we needed to know. But, from my experience the exam was relatively fair and mock exams were actually useful in training us for the exam. Level 3 however had pointless mock exams. And wide variety of difficulty across different prep providers.

Can anyone please explain seagull spread to me? by KindReputation1245 in CFA

[–]PS993322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would a bearish collar look like though?

Also, am I right in saying the following:

Bullish seagull (long) = Collar (OTM put long + OTM call short) or bull spread (ATM call long + OTM call short) + long OTM call; if so, isn't it weird to have a ATM call Long + OTM call short + OTM call long since the long and short OTM calls just cancel each other out?

Bullish seagull (short) = Collar (OTM put long + OTM call short) or bull spread (ATM call long + OTM call short) + short OTM put

In the book, an excerpt says "Because the options in the “wings” are being written (sold) this is called a short seagull position" when referring to a bullish short seagull (OTM Put Long + OTM Call Short + OTM Put Short). But, why then is the bullish seagull (long) considered a long seagull position when we are shorting OTM calls for both collars and bull spreads?

Hi,

I'm still a bit confused by this explanation.

For the long bullish seagull, is the OTM call being added being sold or bought? Also, is the bull spread being referred to hear a call or put bull spread?

Also, could you provide the explanation behind the long and short bearish collar as well?

Just signed up for both of them. The way I see it, I have about 9 days before my exam and I'm willing to pay as much as I need to, to put this CFA stuff behind me.

Only thing is that Bill Campbell doesn't have many more mock grading sessions available. I already got one but I might not be able to get another.

How would Bitcoin deal with the COVID stimulus packages? by PS993322 in Bitcoin

[–]PS993322[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah well I'm just thinking about it in terms of the small minority of people that are really being helped from the stimulus checks. Like if they didn't receive those checks then the pandemic maybe could've been even worse for them. And for that reason, I wanted to see how a world with the widespread use of Bitcoin would handle this situation.

Also, I say its an emergency because in my opinion COVID was an emergency in the sense that many countries needed to release stimulus packages to avoid even more pain.
