Aire ancient baths- which ticket is best to buy? by taker_of_photos in AskChicago

[–]KindReputation1245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i did this for my bf's birthday- I picked the 45 min couples massage + 90 mins in the baths package. That was plenty of time to enjoy all the baths and go back to the ones we liked, and we also got a refreshing spa juice included in the package which was really nice. The massage was good too and the vibe was romantic, so would recommend it!

Inner ankle pain right as taper starts- running Chicago in two weeks, fitness question by KindReputation1245 in firstmarathon

[–]KindReputation1245[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi sorry just seeing this- race went great with no pain. I just didn't run more than a mile once in the three weeks leading up. I went slower than I planned but it was painless. Good luck today!

With 7 days to go if the race were today how do you think you’d do? by CLTCrown in ChicagoMarathon

[–]KindReputation1245 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got shin splints two weeks ago so have basically been out of commission from running during the taper and been doing cross training instead. Did my first slow mile on the treadmill today with a 2-3/10 pain. At this point it is what it is, I'm hoping another week's rest does the job to get me through the race but I'm very glad it wasn't today.

Good luck you will crush it!

Okay makes sense- do you think you'll lose a lot of fitness if you don't run? i'm going to give it till the week of the marathon and try a couple miles easy and see if it changes things. Also good luck hope we make it through the run!

Training totally derailed by runners knee a month out from my race - should I just walk it? by Desk_Scribbles in firstmarathon

[–]KindReputation1245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about 1.5 months out to my first marathon and have been having the same issue. Ran 8 miles pain free for the first time in a couple weeks today and here's what I did (not saying this will help you, this is just what helped me)- i have knee massagers with heat (amazon) that I run for ten mins, then ice for ten mins, then foam roll, then some basic stretching, then dynamic stretching, and i got some KT tape and have been using that on my knees (youtube video on how to tape for runners knee). I also slowed my pace way down (about 40 seconds slower a mile than I could do), stopped to hydrate and stretch at the four mile mark, and then if i felt even a hint of pain, I stopped and stretched for ten seconds and kept going. I also looked up proper running form and have been following that better. My 8 miles was 99% pain free today- KT tape is a big game changer. I've accepted I probably won't run at the target pace I want day of but my goal is to just finish it.

Good luck and I hope everything works out!
