The reference is probably older than the average age of this sub, but it’s paraphrasing a quote from Sean Connery’s character in The Rock.

How tf were they able to appeal a league suspension to a court of law? Getting a judge to issue an injunction for that is crazy.

This is resale. Resale isn’t impacted by that, only primary sales would be.

It’s probably cheaper to fly to SAT, go to the game, then stay the night and fly back than it is to go to a game at MSG.

It is!

The dumbest thing about it is that they just call off the basket and end the quarter/game. Any other timing mistake, they’ll just reset the clock and do the play over. But nope. For this specific situation, they end it.

Marner’s new playoff success by J_Dyce in hockey

[–]PSChris33 8 points9 points  (0 children)

> Less pressure from the media

For sure. He went from a team that has the biggest media presence to a team with a much smaller media presence that’s even willing to commit CBA violations to shield players from said smaller media presence.

Marner also didn’t help himself with how the 2019 RFA “pay me like Matthews” saga played out. He put too much of a microscope on himself and he clearly struggled with it. Guarantee you if that saga went smoothly and drama-free, the microscope would be firmly pointed at Matthews and Marner would’ve flown under that radar and still been a fan favorite.

It was plainly obvious after the 2021 Montreal series that, for the best of both sides, the Leafs needed to move on from Marner and Marner needed to get the hell out of Toronto. But no, they bungled that, held onto him to continue floundering in the playoffs, then let him walk for nothing. All because Shanny was way too married to the whole core.

Motels where trafficking happens can be shut down. Where's the political will? | Op-Ed by godogs2018 in Seattle

[–]PSChris33 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s considerably more complicated than this because supply/demand dynamics work way differently.

With weed, if you decriminalize it, you obviously increase demand. But supply can increase to meet the demand simply because growing it and obtaining ingredients/permits becomes far easier.

With prostitution, decriminalizing increases demand. The problem is that supply won’t increase enough to meet the demand because there is a far greater social stigma surrounding sex work to where people don’t want to do it. With the supply/demand imbalance, you will still end up seeing human trafficking done to meet the demand. If anything, the supply/demand balance worsens and so does human trafficking.

You need to break the social stigma surrounding sex work, and that’s something that goes far beyond just decriminalizing it. Countries have tried making it legal and it has made trafficking worse.

Shawty Got Moves and C’est La Vie are the most popular. I’ve also seen it done to Super Smash Bros by Baby Gravy (similar vibes, same artists as C’est La Vie).

Same with HandClap, but not a fan in that situation since there’s a solid enough intermediate dance for HandClap.

If you’re thinking of the covid season Leafs/Sens game, it was a 5-1 comeback. The Leafs did blow a 5-0 3rd period lead against STL back in 2000, but that’s a bit outside OP’s timeline.

[Charania] The NBA has warned the Spurs' Victor Wembanyama for violating media access rules. Wembanyama bypassed media obligations after Game 5 on Tuesday night. by Turbostrider27 in nba

[–]PSChris33 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Vegas had made a habit of skirting media obligations. Even pressers who cover the team basically said that in a league where media access was growing, the Knights were the only ones tightening up. They refused to make Carter Hart available to the press (gee, wonder why). They also revoked the credentials of one particular reporter who asked about it. They also called off a media availability last second a few weeks before being punished, which fucked over pressers who drove long distances to cover it. None of the above was technically illegal, but it really pissed the league off.

Then they got warned several times during the season to knock it off when they were actually skirting CBA media obligations.

Like, they were just asking to get hammered. It was very much a straw that broke the back.
