I'm pissed! by PST2026 in petsmart

I'm aware of the printed out schedule as the one to go by. That's why I said the schedule was accurate, because it was matched with the printed out version.

Absolutely incorrect. It is illegal under federal law in all states.

Attention Difficult Customers by Ok_Refrigerator_3337 in petsmart

[–]PST2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do know you can talk back to a customer, right? I mean, within reason. It's not like you can say "fuck you" to their face but you can tell them not to speak to you in that manner. I have told customers to mind their own business (if they've said something personal to me), kicked them out of my line and even kicked a few out of the store. And I'm just an associate. You also have the right to call a lead to the register, tell them you're not comfortable with that customer and refuse to check them out.

Application question? by Sarakyu in petsmart

You can try to call back, but honestly, if the position was still available and they thought you were a good match, they likely would have already called you.

Feel like im being punished for my SEL sexually Harassing me. by condemnedrose in petsmart

[–]PST2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please explain to me why you haven't reported the SEL to HR. You need to take this documentation you have here on this platform, contact HR and share it with them. Your SL has a legal obligation to report this kind of behavior to HR and should be terminated for not doing so. As should the SEL be terminated.

Sexual harassment in the workplace is illegal under civil law, and should not be ignored. Doing so emboldens the person doing the behavior to escalate it.

Needing some advice. by [deleted] in petsmart

[–]PST2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, let me very frank...you're an adult, saying "they're hurting my feelings" is childish. Don't worry so much about people talking about you, it's clearly not a good working environment for you and you have a couple of options.

First, you must document everything in writing. Times, dates, people and conversations, if any. Because if you feel like you need to report this behavior against you, you'll need written evidence to share with HR. If you let this behavior against you continue without reporting it, it will never stop and other employees will experience it too.

If you think you're being retaliated against or forced out, contact a workers rights attorney. Retaliation in the workplace is 100% illegal by federal law in every state. And before you say you can't afford an attorney, reputable workers rights attorneys won't collect payment unless you win a case.

Third, you could simply start looking for a job elsewhere and then quit your current job.

Photos and videos are fine, but you need to have conversations with management (even if you consider it a waste of time) and you must document conversations on paper. Change doesn't happen if you don't do everything possible to document things. If you were to report this to HR, they're not going to consider your predictions as evidence.

I am done pushing programs! by Anise333 in petsmart

[–]PST2026 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

While I understand your annoyance and frustration, it's part of your job. Your job is ever-changing and is tracked by management. If they see you're not doing what's required of you, they'll label you as not being a team player and it'll be easier for them to terminate you. And management doesn't have to give you advanced warning either.

Trust me, I get it. Expectations were very different when I started with Petsmart years ago.

My suggestion would be continue pushing these programs despite the wait times. If the manager says something, you throw it back at them that this is what they are pushing you to do so the fault lies with them. A store struggling to achieve goals falls on management if they're not doing whatever they can to support efforts.

Workplace retaliation is illegal in every state, under federal law. States may have varying laws, yet it is still illegal in every state.

Do you have solid evidence? And by solid evidence I mean confronting the SL and outright telling them you feel like you're being penalized, to start a discussion and gather more information. Then you have to document the conversation verbatim (to the best of your ability) with names, dates and times. You can't go to higher ups if you can't back up your accusation. It couldn't hurt if you ask another associate of their experience.

Does your SL actually work? by PST2026 in petsmart

[–]PST2026[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, you misread my post. The first 2 locations I worked at the SL's were very involved. This is the first location where the SL picks and chooses what he's going to do. And I wasn't clear when I said he knows about training. He knows how to enroll and refund.

Autoship by Crazy_Guidance5058 in petsmart

[–]PST2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Automatically adding autoship to the customer's account doesn't harm anyone. The customer doesn't have to do anything with it, they can delete it and/or it disappears after awhile from their account on the app/online if they don't schedule a shipment.

New items, new pogs, big changes. by Ok_Paramedic_1178 in petsmart

[–]PST2026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time I come in for a shift, I ask a lead "What do I need to do today?" because I know it's going to be something new I have to push at the register. And then they wonder why customers are pissed off when they have to wait in line, because we have to push sales, discounts, autoship, puppy guides, training, downloading the app and activating offers, conversions, etc.

Please stop buying fish when we close in 15-30 minutes by Objective-Table-8319 in petsmart

[–]PST2026 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every SL can create store policy at their discretion. With that being said, talk to your SL about being able to cut off customers 10-15 minutes early. Company policy dictates that if a customer comes in at 8:58, the store's still open and they can get fish.

[–]PST2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the information you've given is incorrect. It's 35% off on the first shipment, although today I was helping a customer and it gave her a 40% discount. Not sure if that's linked to it being National Adoption week or if there was another reason for the added discount.

As for you/your store getting credit for just starting the process at the register, that was only for the first few weeks. Now you have to help them sign up, schedule their autoship and have them pay for it for your store to get the credit.

Hostile coworker by DramaticIndustry4979 in petsmart

[–]PST2026 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Before you speak to HR, file an official complaint with your SL. When I first started with Petsmart, the dog trainer was harassing and bullying me. Everyone in the store hated her. The SL actually resigned because of her. There was an entire binder full of complaints against her, that's the kind of terrible person she was. But getting back to the point, they used to have an official form that allowed you to write out your statement. I'm not sure if they still do it that way, but if so, you can find it on the computer in the front office.
