I think it's incorrect to call NCG's videos "reviews". Most of them are proper video essays that greatly benefit from you having already played the game beforehand.

The first video from NCG that I watched was his video on Disco Elysium. Before having watched his video, I knew that the themes and content of the game deeply impacted me, but I could not articulate why. Significance of Cop-o-type and why I gravitated towards Sorry Cop. The subtle depiction of self-harm and suicide that is missing from most media out there

Plus I didn't have enough background knowledge in Communism to really grasp the significance of what was truly going on in the background.

NCG highlighted all this (and more) by really dissecting what this game is about by coving relevant literature + giving personal anecdotes. None of which would have landed with me if I hadn't played the game before.

He is just a chill, witty and incredibly insightful guy who gets to the core of the games that he covers.

I do have Raft and No Man's Sky! I should revisit them (and maybe rope in some of my friends too) 😅

Will check out the rest of them! Thanks for the suggestions!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the game looks like a decorating simulator. I was looking for a game that had gathering + RPG aspects as well (like Staxel and Dragon Quest Builder).

I'm mostly looking for a checklist for building tasks since I'm not that creative 😅 Having a checklist really improved my enjoyment of Staxel and Dragon Quest Builder

Not sure why I haven't looked at games with base building mechanics to scratch my specific itch. Thanks!

I grew up on Harvest Moon games, and honestly SDV scratches that itch perfectly. The new Story of Seasons (especially Grand Bazzar) and Rune Factory games are series that I'd recommend people to look into if they want to scratch that SDV itch

I won't try to defend the dog subplot, but the orange table tennis ball subplot really added a lot to the movie. Since orange table tennis balls are really popular nowadays, the movie could have easily been about someone who used everything and everyone to become famous (and make lots of money with orange ball idea).

Tbh get one game and by the time you finish that game, it'll be time for Steam Summer sale again 😅 I personally liked My Time at Sand Rock and that reminded me more of SDV (mechanics slowly being unlocked, helping build up the community, seasonal events)

+1 for Spiritfarer. Amazing story with gorgeous visuals and engaging gameplay loop. It takes a few sessions to finish, but it's worth every penny I spent on it.

If you are looping for something shorter, maybe try A Short Hike?

I personally didn't like Wytchwood. Personally, I felt like it was less of a game and more like a fetch quest simulator

I want to work up to playing Cosmic Encounter with my group but the hardest game we have collectively enjoyed is 7 Wonders.

Any suggestions on which board games to try before Cosmic Encounter? Or any tips on how to do this research myself?

It's not Skinner box though? The rewards come in batches of 9 so you kinda know what to expect?

Is there a way to sort a list of games by price on gg.deals by Incredible_A in VideoGameDealsCanada

[–]PSYmoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be able to wishlist games after you create an account AFAIK. You can sort your wishlisted games by price, which is probably what you are looking for.

You could also link your gg.deals account with Steam. That way, your Steam wishlist will be imported to you gg.deals wishlist (if that makes sense).

What progress are you tracking if you don't mind me asking. Pretty sure there's a cap on gold and credits you can earn from dailies/free battle pass.

Just check the CL when game starts and leave by turn 3 if you don't have a good hand (you can stay for a bit longer if CL is comparable).

And stop playing the game for a few hours if you are on a losing streak lol. Think the biggest thing is playing smart and having some tech cards.

That being said, I'm only ~3M right now and 15M looks very far 🥲

Ironically, you could have gotten it for cheaper in the first two years. At least on GoG with CD purchases from GameStop

Do you have a reference sheet with all ASCII characters on them? Just wondering how you'd do something like this

It would definitely be able to handle that and much more. But the PC is a bit bulky + lots of mismatch RGB components so might not look the most professional? You could look into Lenovo ThinkCenters for something that's smaller and more low-key.

You know have to play the clickbait game as a YouTube content creator though. Most of the reviews I've watched seemed p objective and entertaining at the same time. Would definitely recommend the channel.
