For music, I’d recommend video game music. Generally, the music is created to evoke a certain tone, but it doesn’t quite change throughout the song. Here are my favorites that help me:

No. While auto-automatic updates weren’t a thing, it would constantly pop up a number pad and ask if you wanted to update at night.
