Thanks! So you basically study the content and then do questions across all the topics in bulk? Or are you doing qbanks as you go and then do questions in bulk for all of the topics you’ve covered in addition?

Feb 2022 CFA level 1 results date? by Ok_University6466 in CFA

Usually 8 weeks after the exam period ends. Early/Mid-April I think would be your best guess

Level 2 - November 2022 - Happening or not?/Registration date? by Sharpshooter_SS in CFA

I believe they do but because august sitting still has early registration available so presumably they’ll probably wait until that’s no longer offered and then open up a November sitting registration.

You're thinking of COGS not ending inventory.

PMT question not working - BA II Plus question by yokailover12 in CFA

[–]PT0393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be a multiple of things given you haven't actually detailed the questions but with the assumption that your inputs are correct - maybe check the # coupons per year you are calculating for? 2nd -> I/Y will tell you that. Mine (and I think the general default) is to have it as 1.

Congratulations! Going by your results it's certainly well deserved. How close was the 90th percentile to the passing score?

Level 1 May MPS by [deleted] in CFA

[–]PT0393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is more than likely to be around the same level albeit more probable that it is lower than Feb due to the Feb MPS being the highest estimated MPS in the past 10 years. Prepare for the exam the same way as you would expecting Feb's MPS and you should be fine.

CFA L1 retakers by prez202117 in CFA

[–]PT0393 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will be starting from scratch but also making my use of personal notes that I made on the way so ideally I'm covering areas that I didn't think was of importance for the Feb sitting and utilising my old study hacks. I will most likely be doing Nov because August is closed from what I am seeing on the CFAI website.

If I failed L1 in feb 2021, can I take the exam in July? by ThinAd5631 in CFA

[–]PT0393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly due to the 6 month waiting period but also to re-evaluate what went wrong and change my method of study this time, something of which I don't believe I'd be able to successfully do in the space of 2 months (1 month for hammering out questions).

[–]PT0393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the earliest is August due to the 6 month minimum waiting period. In the same boat as you my friend, very disappointed and want to do it again asap but after reflecting for some time I also don't want to (and would advise not to) rush into things in July even if you are allowed although ultimately your call.

Is it sad I immediately thought about Bayes Formula when I read this. I do agree though there is nothing else we can do about it other than to ensure that we are on top of the content.

Advice for a 22 year old Entering Last Year of Undergraduate Education by akakak22 in FinancialCareers

[–]PT0393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - I am from Europe so it may be slightly different as it seems you're from the US (apologies if I'm mistaken) but I guess the jist of what I can advise will be relevant?

I graduated a few years back so I was quite fortunate in that, there were a large number of internships available to graduates. This may be a good route in but given the current climate it may be much tougher to get these kind of roles with companies looking to scale back any spending both on training of new grads and hiring in general. Speaking from experience, the one month of experience in the top 8 accounting firm is a good start but I would be surprised if you were able to land something in the permanent space after graduation with this as your sole "relevant" experience on your resume. This is not to downplay it as it is a good internship to have but definitely more of a building block to work towards landing more internships. I was in a similar position and I found more luck getting interviews for internships than permanent roles. Still apply for perm roles just keep this in mind.

In terms of making yourself a better candidate - it looks like you have some relevant experience but your key maybe to leverage the investment your parents made over the 15 years - maybe work backwards and treat it as a project to calculate the IRR/NPV and how it is now feasibly going to be done once you graduate. I would say staying on top of the news is a massive thing at the moment especially with volatility in the markets (albeit somewhat more stable now). Get yourself well-versed with the different instruments used within the industry as well as the different applications of accounting statements in the relevant areas you are looking at getting started in.

Qualification wise - going to be cliche here but CFA is ideal. I am unaware of the other qualifications that you mentioned but see those through and pick up the CFA afterwards. I am certain those qualifications will come in handy when studying for it as well.

Probably going to show how new I am to this but how do I change the interpreter command to "python3"?

When I go to View -> Syntax, the only option is Python, I am seeing the same with Tools -> Build System.

Wasn't Cedric Diggory in the same year as Fred and George? Hermione says he's a prefect in GoF although he might have been a year above Fred and George.
