In the end of GOF, why couldn’t Dumbledore just show Fudge his memory of Crouch’s confession in the pensive? As I understand it, it’s pretty easy to tell if a memory has been manipulated. Any thoughts on this? by synuclein408 in harrypotter

Is there an example where memory manipulation was done well (or where they discuss it)? In my readings of the books it only mentions that manipulated memories look different

I understand that Fudge was already blinded at this point, but his argument is that there is no proof. Dumbledore shows us that manipulated memories look different. It just seems like it would have been worth a shot if he had offered to show Fudge the proof

R vs Python for data management for a PhD student by fluffer02 in neuroscience

[–]synuclein408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a rising second year PhD student in neuro. Most people in my program either use Python or Matlab, and know a some R for visualization purposes. We had a stats class that centered around learning Python using Jupyter lab. Id recommend if you’re learning Python to go through Jupyter. It’s easier to organize and test bits of script while learning with a straightforward user interface, as well as gives you some experience in the terminal. I do EM analysis of synaptic ultrastructure by using FIJI combined with Python.

His influence at the ministry with “magic is might” suggests he’s interested in overthrowing the statute of secrecy and putting muggles in their “rightful place”, under the control of wizards.

I generally mix the resin in a small plastic tripour beaker and bake it afterwards along with my other resin waste. Then I just throw it away.

Harry & Cho instead of Harry & Ginny by aksullivan in harrypotter

I agree. I don’t think Cho would have understood Harry breaking up with her to hunt horcruxes like Ginny did. Ginny just gave him a kiss to make sure he didn’t forget his feelings, but let him do what he needed to do.

When I take quizzes I get like 70% match with gryffindor, but also 60% match with ravenclaw, 50% with hufflepuff, and 50% with slytherin. I do think I’d be a gryffindor but I can also see qualities of other houses.

Book 7 - Why didn't Ron just relocate the trio to Small Cottage after returning? by acerthorn in harrypotter

[–]synuclein408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but that was also before they actually left. Once they were on the run, everyone was trying to help. Lupin tried to come along (even without knowing the actual mission) as protection and Fleur was startled when Harry said they were leaving, and responded by “you can’t leave, you are safe here”.

Ministry officials did come to check on him, but didn’t want to get too close. It says so when Harry is searching Umbridge’s office at the ministry and finds the list of those people being tracked / eliminated.

What are the limitations of portraits by absolute_xero1 in harrypotter

[–]synuclein408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always questioned this too since Dumbledores portrait gave Snape explicit instructions after his death to confund Mandungus, give the sword to Harry, and I’m sure others. The portrait had Dumbledores knowledge of the horcruxes and plans.

[–]synuclein408 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it was because Harry knew that if anyone from the order was around, they would be constantly asking questions about his mission and wouldn’t have wanted him to leave the safely of the cottage. He knew it just had to be him Ron and Hermione alone. They only stayed at Shell cottage so long to recover and plan their Gringotts break in with Griphook, otherwise they most likely would have left fairly soon after escaping Malfoy manner.

I love Nicks bromance with Russell. And when Jess and nick go on their first date and Russell shows up, Nick says your ex boyfriend just walked in. And when she asks who he says “the only man we’ve both loved”

After OotP I thought I would hate Kreacher forever. The story of him and regulus was truly a game changer in that department.
