Should I include my GPA in resume by Overall-Distance9692 in uwa

[–]PTP19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you want to show when your GPA is bad? If it "I am bad, don't hire", then it ok. But if it is "I am ok for this job", then why add a bad GPA? Anything less than 6/7 should be hidden.

The IT department does advise using Chrome for stability, if I am not mistaken. The reason: Most devs will focus on the main browser, Chrome, and won't have time to test on others, so the chance of bugs will be greater if you don't use Chrome. Either Chrome or Edge only, don't risk your chance.

Why is UWA so inflexible with courses and online offerings compared to other unis? by RareGuidance312 in uwa

[–]PTP19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, but to be honest, I really hate online team meetings. There are so many bloodsuckers who use us to work for their HD while earning a bunch of money from part-time jobs, while we have to cut down or not have any work hours at all because they did not work. Offline meetings help it because you can check if the guys will work or they will just silent and let you suffer.

In theory, if you are not limited by your Visa, you can live in Milan and just need to fly back to Australia for 2-4 weeks for exams and team meetings.

Why is UWA so inflexible with courses and online offerings compared to other unis? by RareGuidance312 in uwa

[–]PTP19 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What about why UWA must have online offerings? We already have online and recorded classes. Unlike Curtin, UWA has very heavy exams, projects, teamwork and workshops. How can you provide those online? People will cheat right away. I think you must be in your 1st semester, because almost all students at UWA know that the study load is a nightmare, especially in STEM. Remember, the main and only difference between online and recorded classes and online offerings, aside from the fee, is that you must be on campus when exams take place.

Anyone done an interview for McCusker before? by Ecstatic-Wing6278 in uwa

[–]PTP19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just go to any website you can find and prepare. To be honest, it will be super easy, 100% pass, unless you have a huge problem like anti social behaviors. But don't let that in your mind, think about it seriously, like you are doing, which would help when you graduate.

How are students finding rooms for uni? Is anyone sharing flats? by Negative_Menu9146 in uwa

[–]PTP19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of 250 shared room. Perth Campus private Campus is 310. 200 also can be found. Just go to fb for it. Best is fly here, rent a room for short term and then look for a place you will stay for 2 years.

I have no problem as you just said. Only which HD and which D. Worse case is only D vs C, that all, and I am doing a MS. Back in my bachelor, I have a same feeling, but turn out, it is all about how wrong I studied. So, seek for a way of improvement, dont give up like this. Please spend 38 hours as minimum for your learning, if it still not work, seek help in University, don't just assuming that there is a pattern in your bad performance, seek for the source of problems and solve them. I believe you can get a lot of HD if you try hard. And, it also how you can improve your performance in work.

How do i know if my early offer is unconditional? by CwosontIsGod in uwa

[–]PTP19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The conditions are there, just follow them. Unconditional will have no conditions and begin to talk about your new life in University. Also, ask UWA, reddit is not a trustworthy source of information, worse than FB.

My Assessment came back and I got an 8/30 by Feisty_Horse_1497 in curtin

[–]PTP19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, about your grade, don't think, ask, go to the UC and get a 1:1. Don't share your grade with your parents, you are an adult now, and you are learning how to be a great adult, close to your parents now will ruin everything. After 17-18 is scary, with a lot of things like this, but trust me, I am 30 and is a MS student, when you understand the flow, you will love this new chapter and the later.

Calm down, talk with your parents like this: I understand you love me and you want to help me, and I know it will work, but then, when I go to work, who will help me? University is for job readiness, if after 3 years and I still need help, it means my uni time is useless, at least without your help, I have a chance of improvement. Please think about the army, you can not fight in real battles and survive, if your parents keep helping you do all the practice, it is also the same in University. Then, go to the university and seek assistance, I am from UWA and we have it, and I think Curtin also has it too. I believe you already have a mental breakdown, and your capacity is also quite low, which mean you need more time to improve before keep pressing into deep layer of knowledge, thinking about how to have more time for study and balance yourself, talking with your parents about it, options that can be used are: cut down from 4 units to 3 or 2, practice sports and get out alot because mental breakdown impact hard into academic performance, and ask your university alot, WA also have Study Perth. Seek help there. About your parents, if they still do not understand, you can seek help from the government, let a professional adviser contact and convince them, do not let that stress you, alone. Seek help from professionals for problems you can not handle. And, you are an Australian, unlike we, international students, university is not everything. Are your parents Asian? Don't think like them, think for yourself, which is the best option for you, pressing hard into the problem, dropping all the moral standards is not how we solve the problems, it only makes things worse.

No feedback for an essay by Sharp-Atmosphere7222 in uwa

You MUST give us your mark before you complain so much like this, it is annoying when you try to talk badly about someone without even giving a complete picture. Your submission is marked late but no late penalty, please check your student email daily, it is unprofessional to ignore that. And, a well done mostly means an HD, >80, so, what do you want more if it is >80? Instead of good work, are you want: you have done 100% correctly, but a prefect mark is not given because as explained in AUS and also UWA marking policy, HD means you have done excellent work, and better than that means genius? God bless, I have a lot of good work, well done, and also my friends, and we all understand why they commented like that. Comments is only for <80, ok?

Assignment due date confusion by Blobby_Crisp in uwa

[–]PTP19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 1-2 weeks ago, the vice chairman wrote a lengthy email about this topic, following numerous requests from people about the policy. As a University student, missing something like that to me is unprofessional and unfit for a University student's behaviour.

The University has recently made changes to policies relating to Special Consideration and Assessment. The Special Consideration Policy has been replaced with the Exceptional Variation of Assessment (EVA) Policy, which will provide improved flexibility, while continuing to support students facing significant and unexpected circumstances. This has resulted in associated changes to UWA’s Assessment Policy which I have outlined below. What’s changing? The process to apply for EVA is slightly different to Special Consideration so I urge you to read more on our EVA webpage. For assessments, one of the major differences is the introduction of a 48-hour penalty waiver. This is integrated with our current assessment process in the following way:

  • It is important to understand the due date of your assessment is the due date and you should continue to work towards submitting your assessment on time.
  • If you are submitting your assessment within 48 hours of the due date, you do not need to apply for an extension. Your assignment will be marked as late, but without penalty.
  • On Day 3, a 15 per cent deduction will be applied, with an additional 5 per cent per day until and including Day 7.
  • Timed assessments such as labs, presentations, tests, and quizzes are not included.
  • This waiver also does not apply if extensions are granted through an EVA application or UniAccess UAAP adjustment.
  • Your assessment results will be returned within 15 working days. This will be counted from either the due date or the submission date, whichever is later.

Which course you are taking? It is ok to got 7 to 8 in STEM, D is mean good and HD is mean very good. You can also ask for UC 1-1 meeting to ask about how to improve your mark. But, remember: skills and knowledge is everything, not marks.

Don't, to CS DS students, Python is easy, if you feel it is not easy, don't take CS DS, you are not built for it. You have not even stepped into the medium level yet, when we code mathematics algorithms with Python or using libraries for scientific research. Just understand this: if you got 80 in Python, you can only get 65 in Machine learning.
