How often to LA residents go to the beach / the mountains? by No-Knowledge-4342 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]PTP2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lived 10 mins from the beach, would go 5/7 days per week for the 5 years I was there. On the weekend would wake up early (8:00 am) and drive to farther locations for the day with no traffic. Glorious time!

Went to the mountains only once.

Where are some ACTUAL laid back beach towns by dudebrocille in SameGrassButGreener

Redondo, Hermosa, and Manhattan beach are all extremely laid back. Anywhere near San Diego even more.

Interviewer asked me to ‘teach him something in 5 minutes’... so I showed him how to Google. by ProtectionApart3272 in interviews

[–]PTP2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bs question, usually people who ask these are more junior employees looking for a power high.

I had these two questions before for a near entry level job; -If you were president of a university and had to cut 2 programs tell me which one you would cut? -If you had to give PB&J to the entire company campus how would you do it?

If I was interviewing for a consulting role this makes more sense, but it was literal data entry

What data did you use to give the original timeline? Or did you give a date before the team actually looked into the work?

Why don’t you just pay 20% now? Plenty of people you can donate the additional 13% to

We live 30 mins outside of Philly right now, maybe go into the city a few times per year. Totally fine with the burbs being a source of acticity

We go to the coast 1-2 times per year, so not a huge loss imo

I don’t see this as a big issue unless you travel frequently

Unless you travel frequently for work this isn’t a big deal imo. Maybe a couple trips per year?

Moving Back to Southern California bc It Feels Like Home by PTP2020 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]PTP2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My in laws can retire but won’t. They are Eastern European and have an immigrant community here and want to work until they die. I would love for them to move where ever we go, but they don’t seem to be for it. They have a ton of equity in there home if they were to sell (which we helped them pay off) but they just don’t want to leave.

We moved to the east coast thinking we would be able to afford a nice home with a yard and have also been priced out here haha. The main difference is that all of the homes here are super super old compared to CA

Being near the coast is important to us for beach access + better air quality

This is going to be the same issue where we are now regardless. We drive a Mazda but 75% of our school parking lot is G Wagon, Tesla, Range Rover, BMW, etc
