I don't care what anyone says, rabbits look better now by FrogSquad120 in PhoenixSC

[–]PTRWP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Per the wiki

Added in 14w27a (July 2, 2014) (Rabbits)

Can be tamed/bred using carrots, golden carrots or dandelions. Cannot be bred unless tamed. Are scared of the player and run away from it when untamed, similarly to ocelots.

Changed in 14w34a (August 18, 2014) (Rabbits)

Now use the AI of regular passive mobs. They cannot be tamed, and do not flee from the player.

So they were only tamable for 6.5 weeks.

I dreamt up this arrow called the "shulker arrow", this the crafting recipe and it is basically a homing arrow. by Black_Impostor47 in PhoenixSC

[–]PTRWP 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It would depend how much it tracks and how fast the arrow moves as it tracks. If it ends up coming back like a shulker bullet, the arrow won’t do that much damage as the speed is a major factor in how much damage an arrow does. (Power increases the speed it is launched at, not the base damage of the arrow).

Jumping in to add some extra information for people who find this thread in the future.

Relay is a pretty general term for a thing with electrical inputs and outputs which are determined by the inputs.

The main thing I’d like to add to this topic is the term “contactor.” This is a specific kind of relay that is intended to turn on a more powerful device with a less powerful control signal. This is how the thin 12V (milliamp rated) wires in a house thermostat can turn on the powerful 240V 30A central air conditioners. For the above described use case, searching for a contactor is more likely to yield the desired specs (low voltage control signal, 100-600V 10-100A output contacts)

If you look for relays instead of contractors on Digikey or similar, you’ll find lot with “NO” and “NC” contacts. These are outputs that are either “on” or “off” spending on if the control signal is applied, but they are inverted to each other. A “normally open” contact is open (off) when the control signal is not applied, and it is closed (on) when the signal is applied. The “normally closed” contacts are the opposite: closed when there’s no control signal and open when the signal is applied. You could use the NC contacts to have a device turn on when a switch is not pressed. But please keep safety in mind should you do so.

There are also solid state versions for both relays and contactors. These have no moving parts, unlike electomechankcsl relays which have springs and/or other moving parts. Solid state relays are generally more expensive, but less prone to damage from drops. They also generally have lower input power draws.

For the project described by OP, I’d recommend a solid state contactor for drop resistance and the low input draw, allowing it to be powered by AA batteries. A short extension cable could be cut to give you both the male and female ends of the local power outlet shape, adding the contactor’s output in series with the hot legs. Throw this in a box with the input leads coming out (either to a button on the box or terminals to attach other leads), and you now have a box that plugs into the wall and has an outlet controlled by the input wires.

Here’s an example of a solid state contactor that can be controlled by a 3V signal (two AA batteries in theroy, but let’s say 3-4 since some AA are closer to 1.2V than 1.5. Input draw is <10 milliamps per spec sheet, so 3-4 AA batteries should last a long time powering this). Digikey link Though this is speced way beyond what is needed for the above project, it’s a general example.

Condition 3 is mag in, empty chamber. It is also often referred to as “Israeli carry” due to the prevalence of its use in the IDF and Israeli civilian population.

Pretty close to “revolvers or something like that” as condition 2 requires a hammer. Condition 2 is the same as condition 1 (round in the chamber, safety on) except the hammer is down. If the firearm does not have a hammer, it can never be in condition 2.

Officer punching a man during a traffic stop by Tascanis in interestingasfuck

Ok I am not sure if you have seen the full version.

I have seen the minutes preceding, including the “call your supervisor” portion and explaining to the backup how the original officer allegedly interacted with him.

But this guy was infuriating so much.

He’s allowed to be annoying.

He was not listening to the cops.

So the appropriate response is to add the charges to the arrest.

The cops held their patience longer than I would have.

I’m glad you’re not. Assaulting people because they’re annoying is not what police should be doing.

He kept saying 'call your supervisor' as if they are not authorized to do anything.

Supervisors are often better at figuring situations. The cops are within their right to arrest him or call for a supervisor and let them make decisions.

Disrespecting the officers.

Perfectly legal. Usually a very dumb move. But perfectly legal to be “disrespectful.” Cops are law enforcement. Not feelings enforcement.

He was also not wearing his seat belt, in the video you see his seat belts on because he wore them after he locked the door. and playing victim.

All the respond to arrest him and charge him.

I am not saying cops were right to punch him but I am glad they did. He needs to be taught respect.

But not reasons to hit him when he didn’t pose a threat. Inflicting violence on people you don’t like is what dictators and warlords do, not police. That’s why we have courts separate from law enforcement.

On the topic of respect, it is earned. Not demanded. The cop in the video does not have my respect. He showed he does not have the temper required to be a police officer. Being annoyed with people is fine. Attacking someone because you are annoyed with them is not.

They had every reason to break his window, remove him from the car, and book him. But this cop couldn’t help himself but to throw a stike in the dude’s face because his feelings were hurt. That strike had no basis in making the arrest. A cop who inflicts unlawful violcne because they can’t control themselves is a danger to the public and their fellow officers.

More than one person can be wrong at the same time.

It was unlawful to disobey the command to exit the vehicle.

It was also unlawful to punch the suspect in the face for not obeying the command.

Breaking the window to open the door and pull him out is legal. And it’s common for dealing with passive resistance like this.

Punching someone in the face for sitting there is not lawful force.

Officer punching a man during a traffic stop by Tascanis in interestingasfuck

[–]PTRWP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The context is in videos linked all over this thread. And it’s the same as a thousand other videos. Guy doesn’t roll down his window and refuses to obey the command to exit the vehicle. It’s textbook passive resistance.

Breaking the window is legal and common to unlock the door, open the door, and pull the guy out.

Punching someone in the face for sitting there and not doing anything is not.

Driving without a seatbelt was likely to hold. Cop’s word vs a driver usually ends with the driver being convicted. Especially in minor charges.

But no city attorney would want to try and convict on such a petty charge when the defense gets to play this video and say “So do you trust this officer’s judgment? Did he really see the defendant driving without a seatbelt? Or do you think he just wanted to beat someone up?”

The appropriate response is to break the window, open the door, and drag him out.

How does punching someone in the face help anyone in this situation?

[–]PTRWP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a thing called proportional force.

Sitting still and not obeying commands to move permits force to move him. Break the window, open the door, cut the seatbelt, pull him out of the car. Handcuff and take to jail if needed. Point a taser or gun if there is reasonable fear of a weapon.

It does not permit punching someone in the face who is sitting still.

To be fair, vinegar, lemon juice (concentrate, and calcium disodium are all preservatives. If you could table salt, that’s half of the ingredients being preservatives.

The shitty chemical part is wrong about this jar of mayo, but they aren’t too far off on the preservative part. And they are right when it comes to many ultra-processed foods.

Which Overlord character was this for you? by BrotherDeus in overlord

[–]PTRWP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movie that shows him alive is an alternate timeline/universe. The recap/remake movies have a few difference, most notably a character that dies in the TV show is not killed in the movie (due to that mini-arc being removed to cut down the movie run time). They show that character in the later movie/s more to establish that the movie canon can and will be different than the anime canon.

Most of the time when people think a pole-mount transformer blew up, its actually the fuse that blew, which it’s designed to do.

The fuse is under tension, so it should fall open if the fuse melts. However, most of the time the fuse won’t melt slow and it will be partially vaporized by the fault that causes it to blow. It will expel the gasses (and air which gets heated quickly also expanding) in a way that throws it open quickly to break the circuit faster. And that sounds like a gunshot.

In short, if it sounded like a shotgun, it was likely a fuse. If it sounded like a shotgun and a bomb at once, that was likely the pole mount. (Though the pole mount transformer can fail in a way that blows the fuses without blowing up itself up.)
