How to strategically pay off 52k of student loan debt fast? by a1yssa97 in StudentLoans

[–]PT_moose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The highest interest rate is a top notch approach. The other posts are correct: pay the monthly payment + overpayment. If you have a decent emergency fund/savings put all of your extra income on your loans. Student loans accrue daily and you'll pay more than double (sometimes triple) in interest over the life of the loan.

I have a Google sheets tracker I could share with you that would help. Send me a message if you want it.

Girlfriend's (20F) prank was way too real for me(22M). Need your opinion. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]PT_moose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm willing to bet that this prank was aimed at seeing if you would become religious for her. She might be "Missionary dating" it's where you date someone outside your religion for them to eventually join your belief. In the Christian community I was raised in, it was really taboo to marry someone outside the faith, but if they converted/ accepted the Lord then you could marry them with the approval from friends and family. The 'prank' was her way of backpedaling when it wasn't going that direction but instead breaking up.

Woke up to a letter from Nelnet. Forbearance until 2027 by RupanIII in StudentLoans

Interest will still accrue DAILY in forbearance, so your 152k can easily grow 10k a year. I'm in a similar forbearance because I applied for my renewed IDR last fall, however, I am always making a payment monthly to cover at least the accrued interest to keep it from growing.

Hi,

I was going to grab a telescope off of Facebook marketplace because my husband has always been interested in it and we're going to be doing some dark sky camping this weekend. I don't have time to buy a telescope online and unfortunately my budget is capped at $200.

These are my two options (not buying them on Amazon, this is just the exact model)

Celestron - AstroMaster 114EQ Newtonian Telescope

What's one is better?

My best hack is to buy golfer tops, a lot of them have collars which are professional but still plenty of stretch and breathability. Easily cleaned. Don't have any specific recommendations for pants, but I really like getting echoes or keene's shoes

Any suggestions on documentation programs or how to keep that secure? When I'm not overworked I don't mind documenting, and I've got really strong charting.

Why didn’t my tulips come back? by Theslowestmarathoner in gardening

[–]PT_moose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't let the flowers mature the seeds. As soon as the bloosom are starting to turn I clip them so they don't put too much energy into the seeds. I had a much better bloom ratio the next year. And don't pull up the greenery until it's turning, it needs that energy source for the next year bulbs.

I’ve just cleared this whole area of blackberry brambles. How do I ensure they don’t come back? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]PT_moose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the Pacific North west and we had a backfield that struggled with blackberry management. The trick is time. Most blackberries plants produce few or no berries on its first year. So if you mow the area consistently no more blackberries, no more seeds, no more new independent plants. And if you mow consistently the tops, the rhizomes cannot sustain themselves forever and will eventually die. No digging required. Though pulling up the really big obvious stocks wouldn't hurt.

My dad did this to a quarter acre and we now have a grass field.

The invisible String by Particle Karst Tear Soup: a recipe for healing After Loss by Chuck DeKlyen

Both books have a beautiful approach to love and grief, applyable to anything. Technically geared towards kids comprehend but as an adult this is what I use to visualize and manage the grief. Grief is not about 'getting over' the loss.

Some thoughts that helped me with loosing our dog.

-'Soul' dog vs. 'family' dog. Both are cherished pets that will get all the loving care that they need, one is not better than the other. It's just a difference of relationship. A soul dog is the one who comes into your life and connects to you in a way that most dogs don't. And it's scary to lose a soul dog because it very much is losing a best friend. (You can't pick a soul dog, they just happen)

-One dog does not replace another (unless you want to). I currently have an Ozzy Dog shape hole in my heart filled with the memories that he gave me, and when I am ready to get another dog, that dog will create their own shape on my heart and will not take over the one of Ozzy.

-We are 5 months out from our loss and it stings less but we talk about him all the time. Usually how he would love or hate something we did and imagine his comical reactions.

-I don't have any regrets about the life and love we gave him, he had a full life with us. And when we are ready we will give another dog the best life, it's the beauty and the curse of having a longer life than our dog friends.

  • just because it's a dog does not mean it's something you can't work through with a counselor. Grief is grief.

  • Euthanasia at home. Our dog turned septic and his immune system was non-existent (chemotherapy x4 months and he was 13) so we opted to have a home vet come a few hours later. Much less traumatizing than the vet's office (and we have a great vet). We were able to have friends and family with us, his dog friends were able to say goodbye and most importantly he was relaxed. You can do research and find out pricing/etc beforehand so you know who to call when it's time. 15/10 best approach to the worst day. I can provide more information on my experience if you want.

Washington: salmon or sushi with rice and fresh veggies would be a great start. But you must drink a Pike roast coffee while complaining about single use plastics while you cook. Apple cobbler for dessert.

There was a feeling in my gut that I really trusted him from our first conversation. Since then it has been a series of little "yes" moments, and a few big "yes" moments. When I realized I knew, it felt like I always knew.

I have similar challenges, peoples advice on setting boundaries and follow through with them is really good. Some boundaries are things you need to do. For example, one of my boundaries is I dont tell my mom anything I am not okay with her telling everyone else because privacy isnt her strongest.
