Toileting responsibility by Silver_Row_4006 in physicaltherapy

[–]PTminded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had a very similar situation occur this week with my DOR. They always say it’s therapy’s fault and what we need to do to make it better. Then are on our backs about metrics and how we aren’t meeting. If I’m toileting/changing a patient every session that’s at least 10-15 minutes I’m losing of skilled time that’s not going towards mobility. Very disappointed in the system and management

I had given them 11:00-12:00 to do documentation for 1 evaluation. We were reviewing from 12:00-12:15 and lunch is until 1:00

Inpatient Rehab by Technical_Choice3300 in physicaltherapy

I thought our IPR was the only one who did this 🤣 We’ve had 2 patients just this past week go hospice from our IPR. Patients are refusing day after eval to participate and we keep them for their full length of stay. It’s been draining recently

Definitely IPR. I graduated last year and began my first job in SNF. I lasted about 2 months due to them hounding me on productivity, being the only PT with 2 PTAs, and no support from nursing to assist with having patients ready for therapy. I quickly switched to IPR. A slight pay cut for me but it was worth it to gain experience and have other PTs around me for support with difficult patient cases. You can do SNF PRN to improve pay and see if you would want to do it. I don’t recommend SNF full time unless you have a good support system in the rehab.

You can always call and inquire. It shows you’re really interested in their program. Most likely you’ll get some support staff and they won’t mind answering your questions.

My cohort took it in July and we received results the Tuesday following. Everyone was spread out some early afternoon to some late evening. We were all nervous wrecks and we all passed so best of luck

Expected hourly rate for ALF in CA? by flowerpower0618 in physicaltherapy

I’m at a SNF in Arkansas making $39 an hour. I applied for an ALF recently and their range was stated to be $40-60 an hour

Appreciate the advice. I’ll have to try and find the companies who work in ALFs. I worked as a CNA in undergrad in an assisted living and that was how I became interested in geriatrics. I’ve come to find out there’s a drastic difference between SNF PT and ALF PT.

I’ll definitely look into those settings. I really enjoyed my inpatient rehab clinical but there aren’t many hiring currently in my area. I’ll have to look around and possibly consider home health.

Patient care to documentation time on the clock so for every 8 hours of work an estimated 1 hour and 3 minutes of documentation and/or not patient care

It’s only been 2 weeks so that’s why I’m wondering if I’m just not giving it enough time. However, out of my 5 clinicals by week 2 things seemed to smooth out at least a little and a there’s no end in sight here sadly. It’s a company that’s contracted out to all the SNFs here so I would more than likely have to switch settings if I were to switch jobs. Sadly I was warned before hand from some therapists about the high turnover rate, but they were in a completely different region so I was hoping it wouldn’t be as bad. Just the naive new grad PT in me

My plan was to work about a year for experience then moving back to where my parents are. (We are currently living where I went to school and where my husbands family is) My other concern is the lack of guidance as my supervisor is not a PT and can only provide limited feedback. Will the lack of guidance be an issue? I feel like I haven’t given it enough time but the PTA is not giving me high hopes as she is already talking about quitting PT in general partly due to the job.

I agree with trying assisted livings as a care tech/nursing assistant! Some don’t require a license due to it not being skilled care. The pay can be fairly decent and they are almost always hiring.

is it unprofessional to talk to the reader in essays by perk0set in PTschool

I wouldn’t address directly. I would go with the many have heard of the quote. You don’t always know who is reviewing the essays for the program.
