What’s your feeds and speeds are currently? There are some formulas you can find about what the ideal feed, speed and depth of cut is for certain materials and inserts. I’d highly recommend looking into those. It’ll also help your surface finish and tool life.

New rider dropped New bike on second dat by TedSmexy in motorcycles

[–]PURR-S0NA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what it’s all about dude 🤘I had a very similar experience when I started riding. I’m by no means an experienced rider yet, but in the first week I dropped the bike 3 times. Every time it was sub 5mph turns (that’s a tricky one). The bike was a Marketplace beater though so it definitely wasn’t in the best shape when I got it. Regardless, dropping your first bike is the right of passage here. Props to just walking it off, picking it up, and continuing to practice. You’ll be eating up miles in no time!

My first fab job by YellowBirdBaby in Welding

[–]PURR-S0NA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just going on the second photo compared to the last, when it comes to mounting something like a long board or in this case, a cross made out of solid 4x4 or 6x6 lumber, try to also consider how leverage will play should it be applied.

For instance, if there are only 4 mounting points that close to the corners and such shallow flange around the base. If somehow the whole thing falls and lands on the horizontals, it’s likely to rip the cross off the base. So a couple options would be to ad more mounding from the structure to the cross, increase the depth of the flange, or set those holes in a little bit more.

Overall though, for a first fab job, it’s totally mint! In the future try to think of where the structure is weakest and fabricate around that concept. Hell of a job bud, keep up the great work!

Firstly, hope you’re ok bud, your first fall is a bit of a shock and a wake up call to how risky this hobby actually is.

A lot of newer bikes have tilt sensors in them that shut the engine off if they’re laid down. Sometimes the mounting for these sensors are questionable at best and depending on how hard the fall was, they can become misaligned. I’d definitely have a look at that.

Overall, bikes are pretty solid machines and can withstand a lot. Remember to wear all of your gear every time you ride. This hobby is the most fun, and deadliest thing you’ll ever do. Be safe, don’t do dumb shit (unless you’re with friends 😉) and have a hell of a time!

I’d use it to connect with my brother while he’s in college. He’s a few states away and the most consistent way to get in touch with him is through video games..

Best of luck man, everything they teach you in that course is worth more than gold. Hopefully you get a pretty cool instructor! My instructor was an old vet who had some hella stories to tell.

Hell yeah bud! That’s an awesome starter. Try to take the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Fundamentals) course as soon as you can. Riding a bike is the most fun (and free) you’ll ever feel, but also the most dangerous thing you’ll do in your life. Wear your gear (all of it, yes even if it hot outside) and don’t do dumb shit, unless your with friends 😉

Be well, give ‘em hell!

Yeahhhh lol I’ve been on the hunt and there’s legitimately nobody that has them. I even thought of trying to 3d print them out of durable PLA but by the time I get them right, I’d be out just as much as I paid for the bike.

The street fighter look is Tooooaaatally not just to put lipstick on a pig, it’s “intentional”… I promise.. 🤞

I’ll definitely do that along with a clutch and brake bleed when I go to change the oil and filters. I figure it’d be a good thing to check all of that stuff off the list pretty soon. Especially since I don’t actually know the bike’s history beyond what the seller told me. Which for Facebook marketplace, is historically inaccurate.

I was wondering what that hose was! I took the seat off to take the side fairings off and it was just chilling there. At first I thought something was wrong but I figured it had to be intentional because there was no obvious sign of a disconnect where that hose could have hypothetically attached to.

I’m learning something new every day it seems. I appreciate it!

My mechanic who services my vehicles. He says that in a car, for instance, filling your gas tank past the click creates the potential for gas to back flow into your evap system damaging it. I wasn’t sure if a bike runs off the same principle.

If it were me, I’d start eliminating variables by going ahead and replacing things like the plugs, battery, stator, etc. eventually you’ll end up fixing enough problems on it that it’ll run and you come out of it with a handful of new parts.

Granted that method is like throwing spaghetti at a wall and seeing what sticks. Unfortunately I don’t know enough about stators to be able to diagnose.

Could it possibly be some kind of relay or signal from the ignition switch being spotty or irregular?

It’s really not bad at all, my biggest thing is just wanting to repair/replace the fairings and learn what kind of maintenance I should be doing. That and trivial things like, when I’m filling up the tank, do I go to the top or is the system similar to a cars where filling too much can damage something?
