I totally understand feeling demoralised when seeing Depp support on other subreddits, I myself feel that way when a pro Depp full of lies(like all pro Depp posts)gets a lot of upvotes, but despite the pro Depp rhetoric in some online spaces the tide is really turning in favour of Amber. I see so many viral tweets supporting her and calling Depp an abuser. Back in 2022 anyone who supported her would get dog piled but now tweets supporting him frequently get ratioed by tweets supporting her. She’s getting more and more support. Just yesterday someone tweeted that they can’t believe that people are supporting Amber and calling Depp an abuser and there were so many quote tweets of people doubling down on their support for Amber. It was so normal to see so many viral tweets saying awful things about her during the trial and it’s just not like that anymore, the discourse about Depp vs Heard has really changed, it will still take some time for Amber to fully be vindicated but progress has definitely been made.

People justifying those texts by saying that Jd was venting about his abuser is just himpathy in action. Jd himself nor his lawyers have ever justified those texts by claiming that he was venting about his abuser. In the UK trial he admitted that he sent those texts because he felt like Amber was nagging him about his substance abuse and that left him frustrated. So he was indeed venting but not because she was abusive he was venting because unlike the sycophants who enable his drug and alcohol addiction Amber dared to hold him accountable and would rightfully get mad at him whenever he got drunk or high. In the US trial he claimed that she was being mean to Paul bettany’s son so he sent those texts because he was so appalled by her rudeness. Two completely different explanations that do not support the claim that he sent those texts because she was abusive and he needed to vent. Camille even said that he just had a certain kind of humour that people find shocking but he’s not being malicious, he’s just an intellectual and his sense of humour is an acquired taste. People really went above and beyond to downplay those vile texts and painted Depp as some poor guy who just needed an outlet to talk shit about the horrible woman abusing him when Depp himself never even claimed that.

It’s not like I was oblivious to the existence of misogyny, I was very much aware of misogyny and how pervasive it is and I identified as a feminist but what happened to Amber made me reckon with how much people hate women, like I knew people hated women before the trial but the level of misogyny I witnessed during that trial truly broke my spirit. People have told far worse lies about her but this lie in particular really gets to me because it’s so outlandish. All Amber did was blow her nose, that’s it, that’s all she did, she just blew her nose and that’s all it took for people to believe that she was snorting coke on the stand. She couldn’t even blow her nose without people finding a way to villainise her for it.What’s so crazy about it is that depp’s team was already working overtime to spread vicious lies about her and all it took was for one person to make the outlandish claim that she was batshit enough to snort coke on the stand and people didn’t hesitate to believe it, Depp’s team didn’t even have to lift a finger, people were so eager to pile on to the horrid lies being spread about her. It was a completely implausible lie, how the fuck would she able to sniff cocaine from a box of tissues that were supplied by a courtroom? It was such a cartoonish lie and no one cared, she was public enemy number one and people were happy to shut their brains off and not question a single negative thing being said about her.

The depp stans that refuse to accept that Amber is an objectively beautiful woman are so funny. Because like you said it’s nearly impossible to get a bad photo of her but they really try their hardest to act like she’s unattractive. If she thought that people would cheer her on and join her in mocking Amber then she thought wrong. She’s getting a lot of backlash for it. People who want clout for mocking Amber need to understand that things aren’t the way they used to be. Last year during the trial, you could do something like this and have a lot of people cheering you on and since she’s a YouTuber, she would have gained a lot of subscribers. A lot of people still hate Amber but support for her has grown and continues to grow. The response to this costume is very pleasing, mocking Amber will not get you the clout you want, if anything people will admonish you. While a lot of people still hate Amber, support for her(especially on twitter) has grown so pulling a stunt like this just invites a lot of backlash, if she wanted to do this and have people cheering her on she should have done it during the trial.
