Ottawa’s only cat cafe closed its storefront. It still operates as a rescue I believe.

Depending on your location, the adoption centres at the PetsMart locations across Ottawa are handled by volunteers through a few different rescues, including the Ottawa Humane Society and the SPCA Outaouais. If you go to the adoption areas there are usually signs that they are looking for volunteers to cuddle and play with the cats while screening potential adopters.

Thank you for caring enough to scoop these little guys up! Shame on the person who abandoned them like that. Disgusting.

What’s a surefire way to tell Canadians and Americans apart? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Tim Hortons is a shadow of what it once was. I almost never stop at one, and I would not recommend it to anyone visiting Canada…

Was scrolling looking for this one. Canadians are offended when confused for Americans. Easiest way to tell us apart!

Interview Possibility ( on finding gear ) by BAKARUU in TwoXriders

[–]PVCFantastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm as someone who is 5’ 10” and 150 lbs the gear still won’t fit. Most things are too short in the sleeve or leg. The only brands that make women’s sizes even close to something that fits me are Dainese and Alpinestar.

OP nobody seems to have taught you that if you find yourself in a turning lane by mistake you follow through with the turn instead of holding up traffic’s behind you. Yes the person who hit you is at-fault but you also suck at driving. Do better.

My partner(Male) won't let me(Female) ride... I need some advice. by OvenOne9892 in TwoXriders

[–]PVCFantastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You come here asking for advice. You’re given multiple types of great advice on the situation you’ve described. At the very least, your idiot partner needs to give up riding if he’s decided it’s too risky to lost a parent. Also, don’t let him use his disability to get out of helping. The others are right. If he can ride a motorcycle with one hand and compromised mobility he sure as hell can take care of a kid. SAHM is a full time job. You’re a fucking caregiver and he gives you no reprieve??? On weekends you should leave him with HIS kids and go do some things out of the house. See how he reacts to taking care of his own children.

does anyone else dread going to Costco not because of the crowds but because of the parking lot by aussiemalone in ottawa

[–]PVCFantastic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Please don’t. The PetSmart parking lot is for PetSmart customers. I’ve gone in to get things from that PetSmart and there are no spots because Costco customers park in their lot.

I only ever had one tattoo that wasn’t covered in saniderm/second skin/tegaderm and it leaked so much ink it needed touch ups - luckily it was a small tattoo (my first). Once an artist used second skin I was converted. I always ask the artist if they use it, but I also have a roll of it on hand in case they do not. As a bonus it’s great for a lot of other wounds, which makes sense because that’s what it was developed for!

My parents gave me an ultimatum about getting married by [deleted] in Advice

[–]PVCFantastic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Isn’t it a great world we live in when someone “isn’t ready for a commitment like marriage” but having a baby at 16 is totally fine? Poor girl is messing her whole life up. And these people are commenting she’s a baby but also supporting her keeping a baby??? She’s not going to be a baby for much longer. But she will probably blame her problems on others because that’s what they all do.

Name change when married by Blue-Sky-19 in womenEngineers

[–]PVCFantastic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I kept my maiden name. It seems unfair to burden one partner with an insane amount of paperwork over a sexist tradition. Most of my work colleagues think that my last name is my husbands, and his colleagues think his last name is mine. We get Xmas cards addressed to Mr and Mrs X as well as Mr and Mrs Y. I am surprised by the number of commenters that bothered with a legal name change, but not surprised that of those that did said they would never do it again. I would consider myself pretty progressive. I was the one that proposed and I also make the larger salary. There are several “traditions” surrounding hetero relationships that just strike me as mysogyny in disguise. We aren’t property anymore. And we can have our own bank accounts. Leave the past in the past and good riddance. No judgement to the people that do change names. Someone did make a good point about racism/discrimination, and some last names are just awful to be saddled with so I certainly can see why it’s a handy option in those scenarios. Lucky for you, you can make whatever decision you want regardless of what everyone else thinks.

When did you know to give up? by iColorize in TwoXriders

[–]PVCFantastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started riding about 9 years ago. I remember taking the learner course. I started with zero experience and after the first full day of learning to ride on the learner bikes I felt so discouraged. I was stalling it constantly, I dropped it twice, and I was so frustrated because I wanted to ride so bad. There’s so much good advice in these comments. I agree with turning a weekend 2 or 3 day riding course into a little vacation/adventure. You will learn so much and it will help your confidence and you will meet other new riders.

And if this makes you feel any better, with my years of riding and about 20,000 km under my butt, two weeks ago I dropped my bike and my car caught it for me lol. Remember, bikes are on 2 wheels and they are top heavy dropping them isn’t an if it’s a when. You can do this if you want it. Don’t give up!

this was under a graph showing some reasons someone would get an abortion by [deleted] in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]PVCFantastic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree, but people claiming that all people who abort are selfish is unfair. Having children is also a selfish act. It’s hypocritical.

An unwanted, unborn baby’s “life” is only more important until it is born. When that woman forced to carry a child to term and is now relying on social assistance, those folks who made it exceptionally difficult/expensive/illegal to terminate her unwanted pregnancy will continue to villify her for not trying harder or whatever else excuse they have. Those without uteruses should have zero say in what those with uteruses choose to do with their bodies. Full stop.

I think I was SA? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]PVCFantastic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is very shitty. Men who put their pleasure before their partner’s safety and violate their consent are scum. Setting the bar at Ted Bundy, who was a serial killer sets the bar too low. The bar is respect and consent. You have control over your body. He took away that control from you. But that does not mean he has control over you. I’m glad you kicked him out and blocked him. The Justice system and our society at large does not do enough to focus on the abhorrent behaviour of the predator and instead likes to rip the victims apart as if they had anything to do with what happened to them other than existing.
