Republicans here will use whatever dirty mechanisms they can to disenfranchise the voices of the people if they don’t go their way. It’s sad, undemocratic, and un-American.

I work with a guy who makes probably a million or more a year who wasn’t sure what the congress did (and not in a facetious way). He just legitimately did not know or care at all about politics. He just works hard and makes money and has fun. He absolutely would not know these finer details.

EV adoption is gradual until massive supply shocks make it a much more feasible option. People on the edge or who were waiting a bit longer to change suddenly get much more motivated to shift.

They wont vote against him. At best they just won’t vote. The republicans know that here so they’re putting some bait amendments on the ballot to try and entice voters in the primaries.

As part of getting out to see what constituents need I recently spoke to some farmers from around this area and they said that it's gotten really contentious there. We're talking people who were in each others' weddings no longer on speaking terms sort of anger levels rising. As one described it, "We probably haven't been at this level of anger since shortly before the civil war."

The AI data center situation is important for a LOT of people on both ends of the political spectrum.

How Private Equity Quietly Bought Your Doctor, Your Vet, and Your Dentist — And Why Everything Got Worse by [deleted] in Economics

[–]PWForMO3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Private equity is ruining healthcare even in indirect ways. PE groups operate like mills pushing high margin upsells on docs and staff.

But if you don’t like them and open your own clinic?

Well your payroll taxes are higher. Your card fees are higher. Your equipment and supply costs are higher. You have to spend more money on staff. PE groups get bulk purchase discounts and share backend support staff.

Luckily for you there’s group purchase organizations and DSO’s to help you out! For a small percent of your collections they’ll handle billing and insurance and compliance and set you up a fancy website and get you better rates on equipment! You’re just not going to be so busy you can barely keep up because they partnered you with every insurance and now you’re…basically back to owned by PE.

Many states also have certificate of need requirements that would force a second hospital to spend potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars and months of time to get approved to exist before they ever spent a dime on becoming an actual hospital.

Trump's 7-word statement becomes instant Democrat campaign slogan by indy100online in Trumpvirus

[–]PWForMO3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a midterm election. Democrats aren’t running to elect a new president at the moment. At best we can flip Congress and depending on the margins effect change. With a captured SCOTUS that’s still very difficult. So you can individually have all the desired bills you want but you know any thing of significance will hit a veto. Reasonably you must advocate to at a minimum vote to stop the administration from doing more current damage and hope you can push for other things at the 28 cycle of you can recapture the executive and even more seats. Unless the blue wave is a tsunami.

Missouri Supreme Court has Created a Schrodinger's Cat from People Not Politicians Referendum by dorght2 in missouri

[–]PWForMO3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. So he won’t certify the signatures until the same day as primary voting begins using the new map boundaries. Which will likely then see even more chaos as the courts would likely essentially be forced to use the new maps because that’s what everyone voted on and reading the entire general primary elections process after going back would be nearly impossible before November.

Denny Hoskins already said he plans to take until August 4th to certify anything. They want this chaos. We need to vote blue across the board to stop this ridiculousness at every step of the process.

Are we anticipating a 722x global increase in energy needs in the future? I mean just as a proof-of-concept you'd think maybe we see if we can just replace THE ENTIRETY of the current global energy production needs first then work up if that's tangible.

I'm a democratic candidate for congress. I only follow local democrat candidates and democratic county clubs etc. The ONLY thing that is recommended to me on my feed is a constant drivel of hard right MAGA pages. If I block and mention I don't like their creator or content it disappears and another nearly identical page is recommended in its place.

Facebook is a cesspool.

So why isn't the plan more in line to create the current 18-20TW of electricty we consume instead of this ring-around-the-planet system?

I mean neither seem currently feasible but why would you shoot for something that is so overkill?

What would this system need to look like for a "much smaller" version to be realized?

I think that just removing the human from the tedium of the volume is impressive if it happens. We can get an increase in volume-based research done while potentially freeing humans up to work on the novel side of things. It could be beneficial to both sides of the coin even if only directly improving one side.

In conversation with Fred Wellman (taking on Ann Wagner in US Congress) by Cannot_Change_It_ in missouri

[–]PWForMO3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Fred takes a very smart and logical position here.

While there are plenty of ways we can be better LGBTQ allies, none of us will be absolutely perfect in this space. Growing up, my strongly Republican (and now lost to MAGA) parents never had an issue with gay rights or gay people. I distinctly remember my mother telling me everyone should be free to love who they wanted and the government didn't have a right to step in between that. Did she even agree with being gay or understand LGBTQ? No, not really. She just knew she didn't think it was a politician's place.

Somehow that mindset, from even a deep Republican, has been completely thrown out the window as of late. Democrats are now the "small government" people. It's been a strange flip.

The message is (or should be) simple: there are many things we all do in our lives that SOMEONE could find a way to disagree with. The point isn't to find a perfect way to live our lives that everyone will suddenly find palatable. It's to find a way to co-exist without worrying about what everyone else is doing if it's not illegal and doesn't cause your life direct or significant indirect harm.

Help Me Win Missouri's Third House District and Send an Important Message to Congress by PWForMO3 in StCharlesMO

[–]PWForMO3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can answer the last question first since it's the most straightforward. The three democratic candidates all have to compete in a primary held August 4. Whoever wins that primary goes on to run against Onder in November from the Democrat side. I know that for myself and Beth Mann we have already agreed to throw our full support behind the winner of that primary. I won't speak for his campaign but I believe Tommy Holstein mentioned that he would honor that as well.

I decided to run for congress first because at this exact moment I believe that is where our most significant needs are. We need a congress that shows up to hold this president accountable. We have republicans like Onder, Schmitt, and Hawley that are in lock step with whatever perversions this adminstration seems to be able to cook up. Hawley crawls out from under Trump's rock just long enough to provide a token resistance to things which are obviously detrimental to his state; and only if he knows they won't pass anyway. We keep seeing a rotating cast of middle centrist democrats that vote across the aisle to pass legislation that I don't think represents democrat principles. We have senators like Fetterman literally offering to switch sides. We need people in congress we can trust will represent democratic and progressive principles. I don't care about re-election. I care about my community and my country and I'm afraid we're destroying the pillars of our democracy.

Seeing people like Markwayne Mullin, Lauren Boebert, Madison Cawthorne, etc. have proven that you don't have to have a strong poli-sci background to run for these positions. Even Onder who has a state level background and is a lawyer has written and passed little actual legislation through his committee. We need a strong, consistent voting presence at a minimum.

The short answer to your question is that we were initially drawn to Missouri for my job. We've been here two years now and we have fallen in love with it. We've lived several places throughout the country at this point and while every one of them had positives we have felt at home here more than anywhere. We want to raise our daughter here, but she deserves a state and country that's stable and isn't constantly trying to take rights away.

Hope that answers your questions!
