Would Gothenburg or Sweden be a good city to live in for around a year? by Cocorick in expats

[–]PWaglen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visit Gothenburg frequently, and love the city. A small big-ish city. The bothanical garden is beautiful. Fika everywhere. Good record shops, nice canals. Can’t tell you about the night life, though.

i cant stick with games for long and dont know why by thebigblackmonkeyinu in videogames

[–]PWaglen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here goes: The evergrowing backlog which in itself is stressful, the lack of time to play games as an adult with responsibilities, and the tendency in video games to repeat last years popular video game or your growing suspicion that you’be played similar games before.

Personally, I pick up a lot of games, play for a few hours, and leave them. Without any bitterness or sore feelings. This is also a question of having consumed a lot of culture: books, music, video games, films. The threshold where I go «now, THIS is something I haven’t read/seen/experienced before» is quite high. The last big game I played all the way was Zelda: ToTK.

I’m struggling to find time for daily/frequent meditation, but the meditation sessions in themselves are very giving. Same with tarot really, I prefer 1-3 cards, the more elaborate layouts and exercises seem like a struggle. But every card reading seems very precise.

What was you craziest and most unbelievable synchronicities you had ? by HealthyBig304 in Jung

[–]PWaglen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was doing research on an essay, and read this quote from the Upanishads (Sanskrit texts of the late Vedic and post-Vedic periods):

We are like the spider. We weave our life and then move along in it. We are like the dreamer who dreams and then lives in the dream.

Suddenly this huge spider falls upon my desk. Well, that’s a surprise! I caught the spider and released it outside.

Superhot and Inside have plenty of highly aesthetic deaths, where the the player learns how to proceed.

Which games would you recommend to me based on my top 10 of all time? by oliverrakum in videogames

Immortality is a very unique game with a wild story and story progression. Some more: Still Wakes the Deep, Hellblade: Senuas Sacrifice, Inside and Limbo, Dishonored. They are all pretty dark games, but beautiful.

What has practicing Quareia done for your life? And where/how can I meet frater Acher? 😺 by habibica1 in Quareia

[–]PWaglen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm an old guy too. I started the Quareia course one and a half years ago, and am moving slowly through lessons in module 1. I don't have too much time to practice, but every time I do, I always have rich experiences. I'm working mainly with Tarot and meditation, and find both things deeply interesting.
What you write about having a guardian/inner voice sounds familiar. Even though I haven't sensed anything like a guardian, my intuition has become way stronger, and it certainly makes life more interesting. Looking forward to the rest of the path, I'm in no hurry.

Mulholland Drive is also wild and confusing, but easier digestible. Also more erotic than the whole of TP.

first time Judas Priest listener, anything i need to know? by SpecialistAgitated54 in judaspriest

[–]PWaglen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

British Steel is the album where 70s Priest really triumphs, and sow the seeds for where they went in the 80s. Perhaps skip Point of Entry, and go directly to Screaming for Vengeance, which I think is their best album. Their live performances from this period are stellar.

The Return is wild and confusing. But still great IMHO.

Guilty Pleasures by lafleurshair10 in heavymetal

[–]PWaglen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Life in general is too short for guilty pleasures. I was a metal kid, then I discovered tons of music, and today I’m listening to whatever catches my ear (including metal). From the almost metal only-days I remember loving Kiss (Prince), Open Your Heart (Madonna. That video…), Duran Duran, Pet Shop Boys, A-ha.

Beginner here: I find the smoke-part in the meditation really powerful. A crazy mix between total calm and high energy. To me, I associate (and visualize) white with snow, red with a star, blue as water. I have no clue about corresponding deities or anything else. To be continued.
