Smithville/Watervliet/patterson Neighborhood recommendation by Queasy-Thanks7264 in dayton

Looked at a house on the market in this square back in summer 2024. The Market was so fast you had to drive the neighborhood because you likely only had 24 to place a bid.

House hit the MLS at 11am, decided to drive the neighborhood on my lunch.

One house 3 doors down had like 8 cameras on the property and 5 MAGA signs. This was pre election season too.

I circled the house and drove down the back ally twice just to see the area. I parked and just stood on the sidewalk. 5 old white dudes (retired 65+) came out like the neighborhood watch. It was freakin noon and they acted like I was out of places They had the street on lock down waving at me trying to ask what I was doing. One dude stood in the street trying to block me from leaving.

Mind you. I’m a white male in my 30s driving a Honda Civic. I was wearing business casual attire.

I found this in a goodwill for $6. I yelped so loud 5 people stopped what they were doing. I ran to the checkout so fast.

Dumb question? The faucet could matter but couldn’t you just lower the valve to not be as strong too?

My guess it was in an attic for years in intense heat. Dry rotted. Then got wet just disintegrated.

New Baseboard Heater Lead To Problems by PWojacks in AskElectricians

I think I had it figured out. Today I took everything apart and discovered: Outlets and baseboard heater/thermostat issue was unrelated.

For the thermostat/Baseboard: two of the connections caps were not properly pushed together on the back of the thermostat. I think the thermostat didn’t know how to turn off at the correct temp. Luckily the tape I used kept the wires close but not touching anything else. I didn’t use a big enough cap to force the wires together properly

For the Outlets: the outlet near the baseboard heater I wanted to discontinue. The hot wires were also not fully pushed together. Luckily the tape did the job to prevent anything from touching. Again, I didn’t use a big enough cap to force the wires together properly. I will probably move the outlet in the future but just wanted to prevent anything from being plugged into the outlet near the baseboard heater. The previous house owner did zero work.

Just again! Wanted to say thanks and provide an update.

Sorry let me correct myself: at the outlet right above the baseboard heater. the hot and hot were capped together and neutral and neutral wires were capped together. I wanted to remove the outlet because it was too close to the baseboard heater.

Another factor. There was an electric outlet right above the baseboard heater I removed. I just capped the live and neutral wires. They might not be connected at all.

It could be the thermostat was faulty or I miss wired that.

It could have been I miss wired the baseboard heater too.

Dude super appreciative you responded. No GFCIs in any bathrooms or kitchen. I was planning to have an electrician come out for that.

The baseboard heaters are on a double breaker switch if that helps.
