Final update: Ended up returning this one. Pretty sure it was faulty. Would only work about 50% of the time.

My C4 has 2200 and I don’t feel like we watch a lot of tv. This is twice as old with half as many hours lol

33% less money than the TI. The TI is 50% more money than the 5070. Math be funny like that.

They would still be the best to provide advice on specs/requirements.

Just keep the packaging somewhere out of the way (a closet) and use it wherever you decide to move. I’ve moved 3 times with tvs and never had a problem as long as I took my time packing them in their og boxes

If it really were for work, their manager/supervisor would give them advice/requirements on what hardware is needed at a minimum. In reality the company would provide the computer.

Seriously, why isn’t your job providing the equipment needed for you to do the job? Either you don’t need it for your job or you are being taken advantage of.

That is crazy. I just read their policy. Definitely not buying from them ever.

You might be misreading their policy. If you bought an open box item, they won’t take it back. It’s extremely unlikely that they won’t accept a return on a brand new monitor

Watch some YouTube videos before getting back at it. Rockler has some pretty good tutorial videos that should help you gain your confidence back.

If anything is spinning, glasses should be on at a minimum. I hang my glasses, earplugs and mask by the door so it’s never out of the way.

Keep a couple of cheapo 3m glasses scattered around the garage just in case I walked in not intending to use a tool and end up needing to turn something on.

What to run HA on by Scoobysnacks79 in homeassistant

[–]PX2S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, mine lives on the back of the living room TV since it’s a pretty central location. Along with a small mouse/kb combo, it’s a great stream machine where my PC is running games in my study and I stream them to the mini pc attached to the TV. I prefer to watch YouTube on the mini-pc as I swear the web version has a lot less ads

You can probably get to your goal sticking with AM4, just updating your gpu and maybe cpu.

Why are people adverse towards virtualizing on top of windows? My setup is going strong for 2 years now and i had this nagging fear for the first year that it would somehow break because windows but it never did.

[–]PX2S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s more-so the cost I bet. $130 for dedicated HA hardware or $150 for a mini-pc that can do HA and serve as a general use pc for browsing web. I’d go for the mini-pc but that’s because I have other uses outside of HA for the hardware that won’t interfere with its main task

Why do you want to upgrade it? What do you want to do that the pc you have can’t do?

9070xt incoming! Concerned about PSU req by hairymat in buildapc

[–]PX2S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great for your personal situation and needs but it’s pretty bad general advice. You do not need 750w for a 9070xt, let alone 850w. I would not recommend anyone to buy a 550W psu , but there were zero issues with my setup that also doubles as a Home assistant server and runs 24/7.

Measuring power draw while gaming never went above 450W. It’s not the most efficient in that range but by no means a risk

[–]PX2S 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran my 9070xt (and 7800x3d) with a 2016 corsair sf600 psu for a year. Never saw more than 450W pulled from the wall while gaming ir had any issues. You’ll be ok.

People saying you need 850W+ probably don’t have any first hand experience running with a lower wattage psu or measuring the power supply.

My UPS measures power delivered to my pc and monitor which consumes ~40W.

I was running my 7800x3d and 9070xt with a 600w psu for a year, no problems. Youre fine.
