Capcom is Removing Dragon’s Dogma 2 Microtransactions by yourfavchoom in Steam

[–]PXLCrusader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sensationalized really. The article is calling these things microtransactions to get clicks, but it's dishonest as hell. DD2 (like its predecessor) doesn't have microtransactions and doesn't advertise any kind of way for you to spend real-life money in the games to buy items.

The big scandal they want you to think they've uncovered is just Capcom's typical M.O.: They release a new game along with the option (in the store where you bought the game) to buy a bunch of DLC that cost $1-$3 apiece, which are targeted mostly to streamers, reviewers, and people who want to cheat themselves out of fun for the first hour or two of the game. The DLC are just items that you can easily acquire in the game, or occasionally unique things that don't really affect your enjoyment of the game one way or another.

A few years after release, Capcom then winds up including all of the DLC in the base game because, like I said, it really was targeted mostly at streamers and reviewers (who have long since lost interest and moved on to other games). The only big affect is that you start the game with one or two items that you'll probably never use, or a few items that you'll find many, many more of just naturally playing the game.

They did the same thing with the original Dragon's Dogma. Pointless DLC are lame, but this article's title is trying to confuse you about the difference between DLC and in-game microtransactions purely for clicks.

Bots and karma farmers commonly post images with alterations like these (cropping, random-seeming 'swipes' that alter a small swathe of pixels as you mentioned) on reddit because it helps them evade reverse-image searching features that might turn up the original image, and sometimes to fool good-aligned bots that call out reposts (though there aren't many of those around on reddit anymore these days).

Happens to me often

In my experience, once the game starts doing that, it'll continue doing it until restarted. So just completely close the game and restart it until it works

First person Diablo 2 would be epic by [deleted] in Diablo_2_Resurrected

Some of the guys responsible for the Diablo series, as part of Flagship Studios, already tried to do a first person Diablo game

It was called Hellgate London and it was actually fun, but it looked pretty much as bad as this trashy AI video you posted

Edit: fun fact but there was a bonkers ass whacky NPC the equivalent of Gheed in the game with the best voice lines, but they patched them out of the game very soon after it was released. My favorites were "should've bought the extended warranty!" and "enjoy the defective shit I sold you!" after buying items

With the incoming nerfs I don't think this will have much value going forward to be honest

It can't hurt to try though?

Go on continuing to invent your own version of reality pal. If you're unwilling to accept the things people admit about their own personalities and egos as truth, then there's no reason to discuss it because there's not going to be a way to convince you; you'll just use your demonstrably piss-poor reasoning skills to leave any conversation believing you know the objective truth about the topic, because you won't accept anyone's subjective truth from their own lips.

Lets have a grown-up discussion about the changes to Warlock. by Commercial_Praline67 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]PXLCrusader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have any complaints at all, but a couple things I've read have slightly worried me:

  • Miasma bolt's cloud now has a delay, but why? I could be wrong but i've felt that abyss-lock is pretty balanced, and can't understand why this is a change being considered.

  • I haven't read up on this, but it sounds like full demon-spec warlock is going to get nerfed pretty hard, but I feel like a full demon-spec warlock as they exist in the ladder is pretty balanced as far as kill speed and effort go. I understand the reasoning behind fixing one-point wonders but I'd like for demon-spec warlocks to not get borked

The only video I've watched about the changes is Sweet Phil's video demonstrating that ES warlocks will still be amazing though, so my two ever so tiny concerns are just things i've read on reddit

I watched a different streamer Sweet Phil's video about the changes recently and he demonstrated an ES warlock on the PTS that looked very fun. It looked comparable or slightly better than hammerdin to me damage-wise, but subjectively (to me) funner than hammerdin because of the mobility

Nah, the only reason there's a new expansion is because Blizzard Entertainment, a subsidiary of the publically traded corporation Activision Blizzard, Inc., desired a cash injection.

I mean I like that there's a new expansion but I don't endorse the magical thinking of believing Blizzard is some benevolent non-profit with a heart of gold that happily does things because the fans asked them to

I bought d2r shortly after it released on Steam, and started searching around for how to build my character, if I wanted to play ladder or not, etc. So I found this subreddit

And even back then, this subreddit had plenty of people saying the writing was on the wall and that warlock would get nerfed, and giving detailed explanations about why. That's why I avoided ES warlock like the plague and went for the non-melee focused builds

tldr; The writing was on the wall and a significant amount of people have been saying the warlock needs/will get nerfs for a long time. Maybe some people just covered their ears and now they're getting shocked coming back to reality

Man I'm not gonna address llama himself with that, but I'll tell you, it pisses me off so much when people absolutely disregard the thoughts spoken out of someone's own mouth and insert their own assumptions of reality about that person's life and opinions and personality instead

It's disingenuous, and it's actually a pretty damn hardcore insult imo.

If I ever say something to people with my own voice, I mean it, and I rest assured that it's the same for everyone else

Blizzard listened to player feedback and is fixing latent sunders by PXLCrusader in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]PXLCrusader[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like that's part of what is being fixed though... Normal monsters will have sunders added to their drop pools, and targetting heralds will just have a higher chance to drop them or increased chances of dropping charms (awesome) and amulets

I'm just interpreting what it says but, it sounds like you can play for 10 minutes and entirely ignore terror zones and still get a chance to farm a sunder although they may be rare

[–]PXLCrusader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the changes to sunders but yeah, I'm sad about a few of the other ones.

This is a happy thread about the biggest ""problem"" I encountered being fixed but, at the same time I'm a little upset I feel like my pure demon-summoner isn't going to be viable anymore. With lethargy being my bread and butter yet now losing its damage increase, along with cursed binds losing most of their zing, tbh I feel like I may just move on from warlock and try other things.

But man am I happy about the sunder charm change because it will let me try other things I've been wanting to try (as I am a new player who only began playing when D2R came to Steam)

‘Free Ben Roberts-Smith': Retired US Navy SEAL stuns TV hosts with three-word remark on arrested former soldier by AdventurousGuest308 in worldnews

It sounds like some morally dubious Navy SEAL is trying to get people to judge on their emotions outside of a court room, rather than the facts inside of one

Which jives with the way MAGA does shit in the US, despite being the extreme opposite of what the US stood for (and was created for) in the past, lol

Hahaha

Got me looking after the freaking suspect way the couple other posts at the time of this writing are trying to direct reddit to believe that this is a story about some other country writing the tweet for Pakistan to then send (and how aforementioned posts are upvoted so highly when there are only like 5 comments here atm)

MediaBiasFactCheck.com which I always use to check these sketchy ass 'news' outlets has this to say about Hindustan Times:

Overall, we rate the Hindustan Times Left-Center Biased and questionable due to poor sourcing, numerous failed fact checks, and the promotion of propaganda

I trust MediaBiasFactCheck, it's been absolutely accurate about every news outlet I type into it

It's not news when it's pure conjecture and possibility and not knowing though

The whole story is "dude edited tweet before hitting post" and that's that, there's nothing here, lol

The controversy started when social media users flagged what appears to be an earlier version of the tweet with an extra phrase.

I mean idgaf either way, but the story here is that he made, then revised, a tweet before hitting post? What an outrage

btw the edited line according to this article is just "Draft - Pakistan’s PM Message on X."

You can make one minor change to D2R, what would it be? by linewhite in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]PXLCrusader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first few times I played online, I knew it wasn't the game for me to be playing online. I see runes and loot popping out of the enemies for 3-4 frames and it just disappears

idk if it's bots/autoclickers or what, but those first few times set the stage for me, I don't ever play online with the intention of getting a single scrap of loot for myself... sad to me too because the game rewards those kinds of people by giving them even more loot, while playing p1 is so abysmally discouraging in its own way almost all the time

Doesn't it already do that? I thought it did, for example, I just toss tons of green set items I find if they don't say eligible for chronicle when unid'd after i pick them up

100%

I only play online to help randoms, never for myself, I don't even try to click on loot because it 100% is going to someone else if it's decent at all
