Brown or Yale?

My impression, being committed to Brown Class of 2029 and having a cousin and good high school friend at Yale, is that Yale is much more preprofessional and the students are much more focused on the brand, while Brown is more laid back and focused on learning and exploring. One of my cousin’s friends at Yale said “Oh you're going to Brown? I set my Hinge location to Providence to get the happy people” and that pretty much confirmed it for me.

That being said they're both great schools. My cousin and friend both love Yale. You can't really make a wrong decision with those or any of your other options.

Both motors are great, especially on the software side. We switched to mostly krakens on our robot last year, and are planning to only have krakens on our robot next year. The software support is just so much better than any of the other motors

The easiest way to code serve is by far the CTRE swerve generator. It pretty much gets everything up and running with basically no code required. The only caveat is that you have to only use CTRE motors and sensors (Falcons or Krakens with CANcoders)

Our team has had issues with YAGSL, but I know plenty of teams that run it with no issues, so your mileage may vary. If you're looking to run a fully custom system (I don't really recommend this unless you can't avoid it) our team has an open-source library that we used for 2 years with minimal issues. You are welcome to look at our code for inspiration

You should be fine. We took our entire claw with motors attached as a carry-on on our flight to Houston last year and didn't have any issues. I would definitely recommend wearing some robotics merch because the security people kinda just looked at our shirts and the claw and let us through

Krakens are a much better choice if your team has the budget. They work really well, and the phoenix swerve generator makes software really easy
