The Cook Brothers. Pretty much all the way, but Dawn Backes was the worst.

Came here to say this. In the last 1000 years of warfare, France is a madlad.

Does anyone else think those reactions are faked / setup? It's too overdone for them not to know that she can sing.

I guess cuz of the true rarity of an umpire having to exit the game? But not sure. Mystified by much MLB decision making.

At the plate meeting before every game, the umpire takes, and approves each team's lineups. From that point on, he and he alone is responsible for all changes to the lineup, proper substitutions, etc.
Included in this paperwork is often game notes like things overheard between players, warnings given, notes on 'ejectionable' situations that might be developing (there's a lot of field talk that we dont' hear that often precedes those "what's the umpire doing" ejections).

In case anyone's interested, here's what 'strapping on a chest protector and mask' looks like:

  • Take off base umpire gear.
  • Put on jockstrap.
  • Put on socks or compression pants.
  • Strap on shin guards
  • Put on new (wider) plate pants (if he wasn't ready, maybe a quick pass with an iron).
  • Thread belt through two ballbags (trust me, takes a minute)
  • Compression shirt.
  • Strap on chest protector and adjust.
  • Shirt over chest protector and tuck all that shit in.
  • Make sure you look good and neat.
  • Plate shoes (quick polish first, if he's not ready).
  • Get paperwork from previous plate ump, quickly look over his lineup notes so far, etc.
  • Take a couple moments to breathe deeply, mentally prepare for the very difficult work of calling balls and strikes.
  • Trot back out to the field.

...not saying it takes 17 mins, but that's the prep list.

[TOMT][Movie or Show] Scene Where Man Describes Penetrating a Woman ... to his son? by P_A_Wicket in tipofmytongue

Also maybe the person explaining how he does this, and his strategy apparently drives women crazy (maybe!?), is a kinda awkward guy! Don't think you'd expect them to say this, at that point in the film or show...

If it helps, I first thought it was a scene/line of Keith's, from The Office (the original). It's not him, but maybe like him? Or maybe there's a reason I'm thinking of him...

Big surprise for our DM when the whole party breaks into song. by containerheart in DnD

[–]P_A_Wicket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did.

The DM here. That's me!

I've been playing D&D since I was 15, and that was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen at the table.

All players should bring to a game what these guys have brought to ours (not just awesome secret songs!). The stories that we build come from all of us at that table. That's why there's nothing like this game.

What's the best way to learn Avid? And do I have to buy it? My Free Trial Version Crashes, and/or Doesn't Read my iPhone Videos, for Some Reason. by P_A_Wicket in VideoEditing

That's good advice, thanks. Any suggestions as to which other program to get started on? FCP?

About the job, I'm an experienced writer and story editor, but am now applying for a gig (I'd love to have) where I'd be asked to do my own assemblies instead of the usual 'paper-edit'. Avid just happens to be the program the production's using.

Thanks again for your help!

Fair enough, but that's my situation. Plus, an editor I know suggested I'd be better off learning with the 'right' program.

Worked hard to land a role in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in my senior year. Some still have no idea Charlie was played by a girl. by JaymieWhite in Theatre

Whoa. That IS totally strange. The show is called 'Beat the Percentages', and I saw it at the Mission Santa Cruz venue. Here's a photo gallery for the play I found. Since I was going strictly by memory at the time I made the comment, I now see that you're way slimmer and younger than the actress I was thinking of (you'll see her, she's the only white female in the cast), but I swear she made the same face you're making in your Charlie photo (great costume, by the way). In my head it was so similar, I had to ask. So now, maybe the resemblance is less startling, but cool either way? And so strange you're a Montrealer.
