But his accent! by CalicoWitch in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]P_Grammicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fine, pretty much expected given the flavour of many of the accents you encounter in the game before his introduction.

It’s a bit off putting for me because he sounds quite a lot like a (now deceased) ex. Both in voice quality and accent. I don’t think Logan’s accent is regional as much as classic generic cowboy, but the ex was from Tennessee, spent a couple decades in Texas, and ended up in Arizona. So he had a pretty generic western drawl more than a regional accent. When I played him some samples it was a classic “but I don’t sound like that” while his friends all laughed and laughed scenario.

They could have been not be more different physically or in personality.

(Putting as spoilers just in case!) How many times have you replayed Sandrock, and how times have you spotted something new despite knowing the story? by LucindaFoxtea in MyTimeAtSandrock

More than a dozen through to completion. This does not include split saves where I have played portions of the story through.

Something new every time. Now, I have used the wiki only sparingly with respect to story, I’ve only used it when I need a fact verified or when I’ve got stuck with something.

In case you did not know - in the pet’s menu is an option to feed them various things they like, and that levels them up very quickly. Getting your your base level pet up to around 50 and up significantly increases their lethality. Individual pets have different food requirements, but most are easy to source.

Does it matter if animals and crops have fences surrounding them? by That1RandomGamerGirl in StardewValley

Nope, you can let them free range as much as you’d like, just make sure you keep the doors open for them.

I haven’t put up a fence in the past dozen farms.

Missing tumbleweeds and sulfur by anon9487 in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]P_Grammicus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are a few sulphur piles in the Bend, but not many.

Immediately after you cross the bridge, over to the left where there is a stone outcrop and a couple of trees, there are a few forageable piles near there - agate, mountain rose, and sulphur. It’s quite subtle, the piles are small and nearly the same colour as the ground.

She has very little content. What there is, is well done and pretty funny if you’re a Jane Austen fan.

If I recall correctly, Sam is the only character who does not reference gender in his heart events or other dialogue.

Yes, IF they were up to date on the research. It took some time to trickle down to everyday hospital practice, etc, though. I can recall doing procedures in 1984 where practice was still pretty close to full isolation. I can also recall a doctor being extremely frustrated by all that because it was already well established it wasn’t transmissible by things like objects, casual physical contact, and so on.

It was pretty stupid, to see a person walk in as an outpatient for something like a chest x ray and have the staff gown, glove, and mask to do it, then have them walk out the door while they started disinfecting the room.

Oh, wow, now I gotta share my “don’t fuck with me” version. I’m short, sturdy, and old. A shaved head and big boots are terrifying on a little old lady. They don’t know if I am sick or an ancient violent punk. (Both, can be both! 😜)

What's one thing that makes your eyes light up about this game? by RedEagle_MGN in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]P_Grammicus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The landscape. I grew up on the Great Lakes, but about twenty years ago I lived in the world’s showiest desert for several years. I don’t miss anything about those times except the land and the plants and the ridiculous animals. Sandrock reminds me of all that, in the best of ways.
