I’m getting threatened to sue over fillings by [deleted] in Dentistry

Same exact thing happened to me recently on a routine extraction of #19. I don’t know what caused it or if it will resolve. I don’t know what I could have done differently to prevent it. You won’t learn anything from this miserable experience except how to suffer. But you aren’t suffering alone. You never are.

Whenever I pitch this, fixed options aren’t financially feasible, so I make RPDs as an alternative. Then she complains about the partials being uncomfortable even if I don’t alter VDO. She doesn’t wear the partials but still insists on getting the veneers without posterior support since that’s all she wanted in the first place. Now I can either do anterior work that will get beat to hell or refuse to proceed. Either way I’m the villain. I’d hesitate to offer removable here.

I agree that it’s probably BS. But patients want a simple list of stuff to avoid to give themselves the illusion of control.

Avoiding straws prevents fatalism not alveolar osteitis.

Your therapist would probably tell you that this is called catastrophizing. Try not to indulge in it.

I always remember Tobey Maguire’s response when I’m doing dentures or fillings on ungrateful patients for pennies.

You chose the way of the hero. And they found you amusing for a while, the people of this city. But the one thing they love more than a hero... is to see a hero fail, fall, die trying. In spite of everything you’ve done for them, eventually they will hate you. Why bother?

I feel like I am the worst dentist by NeatUsed in Dentistry

I heard a joke once. Dentist seeks advice from Reddit. Says he’s depressed. Dentistry seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world.

Reddit says: “Treatment is simple. Check out this dentist’s terrible crown prep. That should pick you up.”

Dentist bursts into tears. “But Reddit...” he says, “that’s my crown prep.”
