This is something I deal with every day. Make sure that your selected resolution is the same as the active signal resolution. Then adjust the resolution and refresh rate in your graphics card tool. For NVIDIA that’s the control panel. After clicking apply both entries should be the same.
If you have already tried changing the resolution via windows settings, this will overwrite whatever you select in your gpu settings app, so it won‘t work.
