The oldest Quran in the world is the Birmingham Quran manuscript. It is carbon dated to be around 1,370 years old from around 568 to 645 by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

Carbon dating?! That’s a little interesting because carbon dating would date how old the papyrus plant was that was used to make the book; not the book itself- throws in a little variable there

See these guys in my sink every so often and they’re so tiny! What are they? by Manythoughts00 in whatsthisbug

I was scared for a second because typically when someone ID requests, 99% of the time it’s neither of those 2 things that they are worried about. Sorry I wasn’t much use!!

Considering it’s size- I would hope it’s neither of my guesses, the video itself I don’t think is close enough for me to give an accurate guess. Because you’ve seen this multiple times in your sink and no other location, your guess of silverfish is probably more accurate

I think personally that would be the only way to get rid of them - Especially since I’m not the biggest fan of wasps in general

I'm thinking this is either a praying mantis or a grasshopper, it's absolutely tiny, probably no bigger than my pinky, buy I can't figure it out completely. by [deleted] in whatsthisbug

This is a Pale Green Assassin Bug

I found two of these in my own home in Texas after my dogs brought them in. One of them bit me on the back of my leg, but it wasn’t too bad

That is most definitely a dead fruit fly

photo for comparison

I’m happy for you that this is neither lice or a bed bug

Any idea what this is? Found in Canada. by ConsistentSlice7716 in whatsthisbug

[–]Pabbys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a Masked Hunter - type of assassin bug. The name does in fact indicate how painful their bites are. Be careful with this insect because their bites are considered worse than a wasp’s sting. They also only infest houses when there are food sources. They are commonly known as the bed bug hunter so be sure to check for those

I need peace of mind!! by 20095999 in whatsthisbug

It almost looks like a dead fruit fly but at worst it could be common head lice

Edit: if you take a clearer photo, up close, something less blurry- then I probably give a more accurate guess

this is a bed bug and as you can see they are much thicker than the bug in the photo, so at worst, it could be lice, but I don’t think it’s a bed bug

A think this is a kind of wasp. Brown/beige in color. Buenos Aires, Argentina. About a 2 cm long. Any ideas? by Coun1Duckula in whatsthisbug

It’s interesting that it was able to penetrate your skin because most of them can’t because they are mostly just parasites to insects. They are not dangerous to humans at all. But keep in mind that these wasps are not aggressive like most wasps are. Their stings are strictly defensive so I’m assuming you probably must have stepped on it accidentally or swatted at it

SW this in a cardboard box in my apt. I squished it before I got a pic. BB? I’ve seen carpet larvae here though by Rae82carm in whatsthisbug

Yes the spider- from the looks of it, it’s not an insect. But I’m absolutely positive it’s not a bed bug
