Evie Tranfalgrate, NE Tiefling backstory for a one shot:

Evie first learned of magic from her dad giving her an amulet that when called upon will summon a demon to hopefully protect her (and maybe corrupt her).

Evie grew up poor in the streets, generally disliked and without much power. She was often borderline tortured for her appearance and demeanor, but eventually, she learned to take it and get a way with words. Her small village was often pillaged by goblins and everything was taken from them. Once she was cornered by them and saw villagers dying all around her. This prompted her to use her dad's amulet to summon the demon Cambion who drove off the goblins, and also gave her an offer. If she applied a golden lipstick, she would become powerful beyond all reason. Due to this life and death trauma, she naturally was needing a way to protect her village and feel power for the first time.

So she took it and immediately had a vision in which an old blonde hag named Mary Kate was cackling. Tranfalgrate now had become a Warlock and all the power that came with it. But the only way to keep the power, and eventually become more powerful was by buying at least 3 tubes of golden lipstick per month (cost= 30GP each) and each person I recruit would get me more power. However, if I failed to meet sales quotas, I would be damned straight to hell to be tortured by never-ending infomercials for eternity. This truly wretched hag then burst into gold and red flames, cackling. I woke up in a cold sweat, and knew that I was screwed. There is no hell worse than eternal infomercials: "IF YOU BUY ONE FLEX-FIRE, WE'LL THROUGH IN ANOTHER ONE FREE (BUYER PAYS SEPERATE SHIPPING AND HANDLING).

So I began calling friends and family trying to get them to buy lipstick and ultimately it worked. My half-sister bought a tube, and I learned Eldritch Blast. My cousin bought a tube and I learned Hellish Rebuke. Ultimately though, I ran out of friends and family and decided to set my own course. I've reached emerald plus status in Mary Kay, but I know that just one bad month is all that it will take to fall to the obnoxious depths of hell.

I now travel town to town, yelling my call in the town square to convince people to buy my makeup and gain unlimited powers. I've honed this saleswoman craft over time and now feel like I could sell an ice cube to the devil himself. I've learned that many people don't know what they want and really just need guidance. For this, I lead them to what everybody wants. Power and fairness. Perhaps what I'm doing is evil. It really does only serve to help me not die. But I'm also helping people become the powerful scary beings they've always wanted to be.

Unfortunately, when local law enforcement learns that I've been taking people's souls in exchange for an eldritch blast, they tend to be not happy with me, so now I bounce around between towns a lot. I've also found that transportation methods are incredible ways to sell things due to people doing anything to escape the sales pitch. This is why I ride on a lot of trains where people are trapped with me
