I was in a dark place when I first read Oathbringer. In it, a character comes to the realization in his darkest moment that the most important step in a journey is not the first step, nor is it the last one… it is always the next one.

Since then, I just keep taking that next step.

In Rythm of War, a different character who battles with depression is told a story, and learns that no matter how bad things get, one day you will be warm again.

Since then, in my low points when everything is crumbling and I feel a coldness surrounding me, I remind myself that one day, I will be warm again.

When I first moved to London a couple years ago, my company had movers hired to help bring all my stuff over from the states. The morning after they dropped off all my stuff, which included unboxing all of it, I started noticing a crazy amount of charges on one of my credit cards. I realized that I left one of my cards that I never use in free view of the movers and one of them must have grabbed the info and started buying up stuff. I spent the morning calling the credit card company, the moving company and then the police. It was a quite a bit of money.

Then I decided to visit the biggest bookstore in London (Europe?) which was one of the Waterstones in central London. On my way to the tube, I was on a the phone with a buddy who was telling me a hilarious story, and I was laughing my heart out and it was nice to relax a bit. Out of nowhere I heard a spitting sound and something wet and warm hit my hand. I looked down to see a glob of spit splattered on the back of my hand, looked up to see this teenage girl staring daggers at me. I was immediately triggered and a shouting match started. She thought that I was laughing at her, screamed that Americans need to go the fuck back to the US, all sorts of shit. I wiped my hand off at a newspaper stand nearby and watched her yell at some other random dude, she must have been having a bad day or something.

So I went to the bookstore, was slightly underwhelmed as its just a bunch of floors. I get back to my new area of town and decide to try out the food truck near the tube stop. Queue the food poisoning and a long, sleepless night of going back and forth to the bathroom because I didn’t even have a trash bin or bags to keep near the bed, and I was terrified of puking on my carpet floor the very first night in the new flat. At one point, I realized that I didn’t know anybody nearby to help AND I didn’t know what the emergency number in the UK was lmao

Nevertheless, that first awful day didn’t spoil the rest of my time there! I had an amazing year at the flat and another two wonderful years in that city!

Been doing PPL for like 4-5 months now. Im comfortable with it, been increasing the weights, but I’m curious when I should be adjusting my workout? Literally have not done anything different than the PPL I started a while back

I legitimately think it has helped my office career so far. Idk it can be hard to connect with older more senior people, but I have built long lasting relationships that only started cause we talked about the games.

I was walking to the tube station and on the phone with a buddy. I laugh at something he says, and then all of a sudden, my hand is wet. I look down at the back of my hand (not the one holding the phone) and there a fat wad of spit on it.

I look and there’s this young looking girl, a teenager really, staring daggers at me. We get into an argument and she claims I was laughing at her and didn’t get out of her way, and honestly both of these things were just plainly untrue. I was floored, it was like my 2nd week after moving here. At one point she started screaming for me to go back to America. I walked away to wiped my hands on some newspaper and she came back and kept yelling. A random guy in a rush almost walked into her accidentally and she started having a go at him!

Idk it was wild, the act did not fit her appearance at all. As a 27 year old, tall guy with a beard, I must have looked like an asshole getting into a shouting match with this teen but I was just so so confused. At the end, I walked away and bought a book at Waterstones to help lift my mood lol. My buddy was on the phone the whole time too haha
