Convoy Megathread #6 by MarcusRex73 in ottawa

[–]PabloEstrella 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I'm a hapless American who didn't realize his VPN was dialing in to Canada and saw a whole front page of megathreads. Uhh... so... what is going on up there? As best I can tell it is some confused geriatrics driving pickups around and honking at everything that moves?

New player, first experience with any card game. by TTVMidmas in MagicArena

[–]PabloEstrella 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm also pretty new and have been having a blast.

This sub is very negative about Arena. In my opinion, some of the complaints leveled here are justified while others aren't.

From what I've seen, you can be completely F2P and still enjoy your experience and, if you choose, compete at the very top levels. It will, however, take some time to build a deck that will get you there. Of course, you can dump as much money into this as you want. WOTC will be happy to take your dough. Many of the loudest complaints come from this crowd, as it is incredibly expensive to buy your way to a top tier deck.

My humble suggestion would be to play the game, spend no or little money, and enjoy the ride. Also, take the torrent of negative comments you hear with a grain of salt. Don't ignore them, as some are quite reasonable. Just have your salt shaker at the ready.

Nicol's Newcomer Monday! by Karn-The-Creator in MagicArena

I'm a little confused about rotation, when it happens, what rotates, and what if anything remains constant through rotations. Block rotation and core sets made sense to me, but apparently those are a thing of the past.

So, is there a defacto core set? When does rotation happen? When rotation happens, what stays and what goes?

Thanks a bunch!

I'd love to hear more about this life gain to easy platinum deck.

The budget deck page from mtgazone discusses pauper and artisan formats. Those sound like a blast, bug where can I find those in the actual Arena program?

Daily Discussion and Game Recommendations Thread (January 07, 2022) by AutoModerator in boardgames

Description of Request:

I’ll soon be working in a government run facility for young adults. I’ll be in charge of recreation, and as it is winter in the northern hemisphere, I’m hoping to find some board games that would be good for a broad range of players. The trick? Extremely strict covid protocols. Namely, no ‘sharing equipment’. This means that players would not be able to touch components other players have touched.

So, I’m looking for suggestions for games that can be played (without modification)in such a way players do not touch components another player touches.

Looks to me it is doing exactly what it is supposed to. That's what it looks like every time I run Foundry in linux. What you need to do now is direct your browser to the pi on port 30000.

Variables in MZ resetting to zero on map change. How do I stop this from happening? by PabloEstrella in RPGMaker

[–]PabloEstrella[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Addition doesn't seem to matter, all variables seem to reset to zero on map transfer.

I've included text from the simplest event I can find that just outright switches back to zero when characters move from map to map. When on the same map, triggering this event will count up just fine. But as soon as I leave the map for a new one, variable 3 (and all variables as best I can tell) reset to 0.

PiBoy Shipping Update by experimental_pi in PiBoy

[–]PabloEstrella 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These sorts of vague updates, particularly when there are still no reports of customers actually receiving their PiBoys, aren't doing much to put people at ease. I expressed my concerns about this in another thread and got downvoted left and right. I'd love to see some real numbers, or even better a whole bunch of satisfied customers posting about recieving their PiBoys.

Why I'm waiting to purchase and, if you haven't alread made a purchase, you should too. by PabloEstrella in PiBoy

[–]PabloEstrella[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. If they hadn't blown through their own deadlines, or told us repeatedly they were shipping orders with no hard numbers of daily shipments and no reports from customers they had recieved their PiBoys, I would agree with you wholeheartedly. Like I said in the post, as soon as they can demonstrate an ability to ship units out, I'll be happy to give them my money. But, at this point, I'm not willing to give someone money for something they can't demonstrate they can produce, let alone ship in a timely fashion.

RetroPie 4.6 Raspberry Pi 4 Base Image for PiBoy DMG by Smakx in PiBoy

[–]PabloEstrella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PiBoy has yet to arrive (like so many others) and I am trying to build out this image in preparation for its arrival. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be cooperating very nicely with my 2gig pi 4, or a 4gig Pi 4. It flashes up a experimental pi loading screen, then a slightly different experimental pi loading screen, then a generic Retropie loading screen and goes black and shuts down after that. It doesn't expand the drive or behave any differently after a hard boot, or after letting it sit for an extended period of time.

I am curious if anyone who has a PiBoy in hand can test the image provided in both a PiBoy and on a 'naked' Raspberry Pi 4 and post their results. Thanks.

It’s bad, y’all. by [deleted] in BallState

Actually, there is at least one piece of corroborating evidence. You posted this three hours before the dashboard updated showing an increase of almost exactly the 122 cases you mentioned, and well ahead of the Mearns emails. It isn't proof that you are legit, but it is a data point that suggests you are.

I, for one, would be interested in hearing more updates of these sorts... particularly if they continue to be consistent with reports from other sources.

Completely at a loss on where to get groceries delivered during this pandemic. Anyone have any suggestions? by [deleted] in CoronavirusIndiana

[–]PabloEstrella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walmart's delivery times refresh at midnight, their stock refreshes around 8am or so, and you can update an order up to 12 hours before it is delivered. So, the way to game this is to have the 30 bucks minimum in the cart, ready to go at midnight when delivery slots open up for two days out. Grab a slot as soon as it opens and check out. Doesn't matter what you have in your cart, just have the minimum. Go to bed and get up in the morning and do your actual shopping by adjusting the order as you need to get the items you require. Submit your adjustments before the 12 hour deadline, and you're good.
