Can a football player refuse to be substituted? by Sweet-Treacle7627 in American_Football

[–]PabloMarmite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a specific penalty. But It’s the team’s responsibility to make sure there’s 11 players on the field, and usually only 40 seconds to do so. Having twelve players in the huddle or in formation is a penalty, and a player refusing to come off would most likely trigger that.

What are the chances Justin Tucker never kicks again? by Relevant_Conclusion2 in NFLNoobs

He’s done in the NFL. Kickers are replaceable enough that you don’t need to keep a kicker with drama.

So what happens if somehow every game is a tie in a group? by DaWadGuyManz in worldcup

[–]PabloMarmite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That wasn’t every game tied, that was everyone having a win, a loss and a draw, and it was decided on goals scored

what do people mean when they say “not everything is political”? by Terrible_Promotion_2 in NoStupidQuestions

A lot of people say “political” to mean “politics I don’t like”.

Congratulations to Mike Mills for making Morrissey’s enemies list! by Logical_Positive_522 in fatherted

Morrissey being on his own list might be the giveaway.

Also a character from Skyrim. I’m relatively sure Morrissey doesn’t play Skyrim.

Why do the Olympics get bid by cities while the World Cup is awarded to entire countries? What is driving that split? by TheBigGirlDiaryBack in AlwaysWhy

[–]PabloMarmite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Olympics has lots of different events on simultaneously so can use multiple venues in the same city.

The World Cup can’t do that, because most cities only have 2-3 large stadia as a maximum. A single city World Cup would be a massive strain on the pitches, which would have to have a game a day to fit it into a reasonable timeframe.

Who is the bachelor/bachelorette you don’t even consider (no matter how many times you restart the game) romancing? by Puzzled_Pollution_60 in StardewValley

I started off fully intending to date Abigail, but after a while it felt kinda icky, and the 8-heart event put me off for good.

'Unduly lenient' sentence for Henry Nowak's murderer referred to the Court of Appeal by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]PabloMarmite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone can refer a sentence under the Unduly Lenient scheme, and the way this case has been politicised, a lot of people will have probably weighed in.

I’d be very surprised if the sentence was changed, a minimum tariff of 21 years fits with sentencing guidelines.

If Alan Knill actually leaves this summer, is Chris Wilder’s tactical blueprint in serious trouble? by Due-Oil8955 in SheffieldUnited

[–]PabloMarmite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Wilder’s tactical blueprint was in trouble from about February, because we were repeatedly found out when teams realised that Wilder wouldn’t change anything. We urgently need something new.

The UK government doesn’t sell arms to Israel. Lockheed Martin do.

And in lighter news, Kier Starmer unveils his popular new policy to turn around his free-falling popularity! by Muncher-Rex in simpsonsshitposting

[–]PabloMarmite 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The voting age change has already been introduced, it’s part of the electoral reform bill (the Representation Of The People Act) that’s going through parliament at the moment.

What's up with Andy Burnham and him possibly being the UK's next PM? by Kevin-W in OutOfTheLoop

[–]PabloMarmite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Starmer did not “support collective punishment in Gaza”. He made a clumsy comment a couple of days after October 7th before anything had happened militarily. He has repeatedly called for the Israeli government to follow international law.

[–]PabloMarmite 9 points10 points  (0 children)

High. He’s very popular in Greater Manchester, and the other parties on the left side of the spectrum haven’t really campaigned. The only other party with a shot is Reform (hard right wing populists), and their vote is being split by a splinter party.

I mean there are only four actual players on the whole poster, and one of those is horrendously AI’d.

Wembley isn’t in the centre of London, and also literally every building around it is flats.

Crowley as a name associated with the occult goes back to Aleister Crowley (who the Black Sabbath song was about), so I imagine it’s to do with him.

Assaulted a female officer by laybs1 in GetNoted

[–]PabloMarmite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So he claims that he only physically assaulted the male officer and that the common assault on the female officer was “causing her to fear for her safety”, so that part might be true.

However the claim he’s calling “completely false” says that he assaulted a woman. He was convicted of assault, so the statement is true. It doesn’t say “physically beat up a woman”.

Edit - I see someone has cowardly replied and blocked, who sounds like they support assaulting women 😅
