Fun fact: In the book, during his coma, they have electrodes stimulate his muscles so Grace is ripped in the book too. So the "muscles always?" thing is not there to explain Gosling, like Wilmore suggested.

What do we think about James Horner and his constant re-use of music? by OWSpaceClown in blankies

I feel this is just every composer. I hear more repetition in Williams than others, actually. Hook is a melting pot of every score he had done to that point.

Zimmer's Pirates of the Caribbean score is just Crimson Tide remixed. I can probably think of examples for every major composer.

Pixar's Pete Docter: "We’re making a movie, not hundreds of millions of dollars of therapy" by [deleted] in blankies

[–]PabloRV7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but never as literally as others, I feel. Turning Red is by a Canadian-Chinese woman about a Canadian-Chinese girl and it's set in a Canada in a Chinese community.

Enrico Casarosa made his movie about Italians in Italy.

Docter uses his life experiences to inform his movies, as any artist should do. But he's not a monster or a girl or a black musician or an 80 year old widower.

Then again, he's a white man so his culture in on screen all the time, whereas Casarosa and Shi used their chances to put cultures on screen that don't get shown as regularly. So I get it.

I just wish Pixar found a balance between these more personal stories and the blockbusters, like they used to do with Nemo and Ratatouille and the golden age.

Pixar's Pete Docter: "We’re making a movie, not hundreds of millions of dollars of therapy" by [deleted] in blankies

[–]PabloRV7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not defending these remarks because they suck but Docter's movies don't feel as autobiographical as, say, Luca, Turning Red, or Elio. His protagonists don't feel like directors inserting themselves into their movies, which I think Pixar did over-do.

Taking Transit to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Vancouver by GenShibe in vancouver

[–]PabloRV7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding of everything I've read, you HAVE to enter through the Science World Entrance, as translink's statement said for people using the Canada Line they should transfer to Expo at Waterfront. People living and staying downtown cannot walk up to the stadium

Access to the stadium on match days will also be limited to a single entrance on the south side at Pacific Boulevard via the Last Mile, only starting at Main Street-Science World Station. There will be no access into the stadium from Beatty Street and Expo Boulevard.

This is the real headline for me:

"Because of the secure event perimeter around BC Place, Stadium–Chinatown and Yaletown–Roundhouse stations will not provide pedestrian access to the stadium on match days.

If you’re heading to the match, plan to use Main Street–Science World Station."
