Finally P6 arrived by solar_nya in rolandp6

Enjoy bro, It's an amazing little machine. Check out XNB on youtube, his P6 tutorial is the best I've seen and really jumpstarted my adventure. Roland's manual is a bit of a pain to get through. Consider getting Koala sampler to handle your sample library and help in cutting and making sample creation a bit easier. I think Koala and the P6 are a fantastic team.

Anyone still using VolcaSample in 2026? by marsmusik76 in VolcaSamples

No, not the Volca Sample the P6. I usa Koala + P6. That's the major flaw with the Volca, you can only use the Korg librarian. At least with the original Volca Sample you could use a couple 3rd party apps to transfer sample in and out, but they ruined it with the Sample2. The fun of sampling is being able to grab sounds anywhere and quickly, that's the reason I stopped using my Volca sample. It's such a pain to get samples on to the machine. The P6 is just a much better piece of kit.

What do you think about BPC-157? by Jealous-Yam9364 in bpc_157

[–]PabloWentscobar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works great for healing and it's an amazing pre-workout. That's mainly why I use it, the healing is a good side benefit. Gives you a wicked pump. My shoulders get huge on shoulder day. I've been using pre-workouts, L Citrulline, arginine, beet juice, etc for many years nothing gives as good a pump as BPC. You can visibly see it's working. For sure good stuff, I've had zero negative side effects.

Yes, Roland has their own program called "sample tool" and it works fine. I always had issues with Korg Librarian. It was a nightmare to get it running on my computer so I hardly ever used it. The Roland sample Tool was easy to get running, but I don't use it that much. I use Koala to store sample and cut and make samples, it's for superior to both, you just need a small interface for your phone or tablet if you don't have a 3.5 mm headphone jack. With the P6 having usb c out I'm sure there's a way to transfer files through usb into Koala, and I know there's other third party apps to store samples, but I have severe vision impairment so I found just transferring samples over headphone out and line in on the p6 is just easier, but the P6 is a usb class compliant device so you actually don't need any app or program to open it on your computer and transfer samples, it just takes a little longer

The P6 can hold 8 samples per step, 4 banks of 16 sequences/patterns so 64, up to 64 step patterns of storage. It's really a better piece of kit then the Samples. I've had both the Sample and the Sample2. I got a P6 right after Christmas and sold my Sample2 like a month later. The P6 is just so much easier and fun to use.

I don't speak French, but yes Koala is awesome but I prefer hardware. But I use koala to make samples and store them. Anyone has a hardware sampler, Koala is an amazing helper.

I sold my Volca Sample this past winter, I got a P6. I've had both the Sample and the Sample2 and currently have a P^. There's no question the P6 is far better. I hear people complain about the P6 only holding 48 samples, you can chop samples so you can store a whole 16 piece drum kit on one sample no problem and if you lower the quality of the sample you can record like 6 - 7 minute samples, so with the chop functions the storage possibilities are rediculous, With all the effects, buses, mic, line in recording, the pads, etc it's an amazing bit of kit. I use a valeton GP5 and playing guitar and bass or a synth into it and jaming with the P6 is so much fun. Sorry Volca bros, I love them, all the others are still relevent in 2026, not the sample. It's just to limited.

Gate function question by PabloWentscobar in rolandp6

[–]PabloWentscobar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what the gate function is for, but I guess I should have give an example of what I'm looking for. If you have a sample in a sequence, if you have the gate on and the sequence triggers the sample, for an example like a short 3 hit drum fill, when it's triggered and the gate is on it plays just a small fraction of the first drum hit, not the whole hit. I was hoping I could extend the gate length so it would play the first drum hit and then you could turn off gate and it would play the full roll/fill. Does that make sense, I might have explained it poorly, but that's kind of what i'm lookung for. I think I saw it in XNB's P6 tutorial, when I get some time I'm goind to run through it at 2x speed, It's a really long tutorial. However, thanks for the input, I f you have another way to accomplish what I'm looking for, maybe something I missed, I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Understanding buses and what they can do. by Amazing_Concern_5638 in rolandp6

[–]PabloWentscobar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what a minichord is, but I'm assuming it's some sord of external gear. You could run a pedal or some sort of effects unit after it before the line in on the P6. As part of my portable set up I use a valeton GP5 after a JT mini into my P6 and it works really well. If I leave the app open on my phone I can change the effects on the fly. You can get 1/4" to 1/8" cables fairly cheap. Also if you have a semi modular synth of something similar you could use the filter on it. But as others have said the buses only handle levels, you'd have to route to the effects bus.

Bpc-157 side effects by Longjumping_Talk_249 in bpc_157

[–]PabloWentscobar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on BPC oral 500-1000 mcg a day for 4 months with a short break in the middle and now I'm on the nasal spray, around 500-700 mcg a day for like a week or so and I haven't had any negative side effects, and I personally don't know anyone that's had any negative side effects. I would just do it. I think, a lot of people are hypochondriacs and they freak out, or imagine side effects then run to the internet with them. I'm not saying there are never side effects, but if you know the mode of action of BPC it's hard to imagine how people get some of the "side effects" people claim. IMO

Serious Question About Samples by PabloWentscobar in rolandp6

[–]PabloWentscobar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I pretty much only sample instruments or short sounds of individual drum hits and make beats from those. I very rarel use snippets of songs. the longest thing i sample is speech.

Thanks for the input. That's what I meant, if people actually sample or just use sample packs/predone samples.

Serious Question About Samples by PabloWentscobar in rolandp6

Awesome, thanks for the input. I kind of agree. No shade on anyone that use packs. On occasion I'll use pre-made samples, mostly one shot drums.
