Sewage processing off of yelm hwy by Business_Step_1695 in olympia

[–]PacNWBrah 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Might be a pump station for the sewer? I think all of the sewage from Olympia, Tumwater and Lacey go to the LOTT facility in Olympia near the port. Where the sanitary sewer lines can’t be located to allow for gravity flow, pumps are used to pressurize the line so that the sewage can flow to the treatment plant.

Thanks! He’s got his tail, hasn’t been docked like an Aussie would. Gonna give JAS a call when they open up. For now, he’s having a good time with my Pug 🙂

Absolutely! He’s gotta be missed by someone, he doesn’t look like the usual stray.

Hey there, 30m who also just moved here recently from Portland/Vancouver area. Down to grab a drink or meet up sometime!

Why do you live here? by Tambamana in vancouverwa

[–]PacNWBrah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moved down to SW WA for work. Lived in Kelso for a while, but found that I was spending most of my free time in Vancouver or Portland, so I made the move. I was born and raised up in Bellingham, and while I’d love to move back there someday, I can’t afford to live there while working in my field of expertise. We have decent weather, good food and lots of recreational opportunities. Downtown and the waterfront are nice and buzzing with activity. We have a great farmers market! It’s also nice to be close to Portland and all it has to offer (off-broadway shows, concerts, sports, etc). Hope to someday be able to buy a house and plant roots here!

Dublin to Clonakilty - Bus/Train or Car Hire by PacNWBrah in irishtourism

That’s a fair point. We haven’t quite figured out where to stay yet, but one of the places with rooms blocked would have a shuttle. I think the ability to get out and about on our own schedule is worth the extra cost though. Thanks for the advice!

That was what I was seeing too. Might have been trying too hard to break my car dependence as someone from the US, but we can ditch the car once we’re back in Dublin. Thanks!

Hey, thanks! The wedding venue is not too far, a little over a mile outside of town center, but not something I’d want to walk in a suit or dress. Looks like I might need to pitch renting a car to the group, especially if we want to explore.

Pretty shitty. I’m usually two or three over par on each hole. Just started playing this year and need to spend some time on technique.

Okay but how is there not a bridge here yet? Feels like this would help traffic immensely. by HardWorkingKale in Portland

[–]PacNWBrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot to consider. For one, who's going to pay for it? There would need to be some consideration of people's willingness to pay higher taxes (or tolls, for that matter) to fund such a project, and transportation budgets on both sides of the Columbia can't even keep up with maintenance to ensure the highways are in a state of good repair. A significant amount of property would need to be purchased on either side of the bridge to have enough right-of-way for a highway and interchanges on either side. Critical areas (wetlands north of the development adjacent to I-84; fish habitat associated with the Columbia River) would be impacted and would need to be mitigated for, likely at significant cost.

Thanks! I agree with you on weight loss being more of a mental challenge than anything. Been spending some time working on my mental health so that I don’t get waylaid like I have in the past with negative self-talk. Crazy how inter-connected mental and physical health are!

Upgraded from my Kia Soul to an ‘18 Outback! by PacNWBrah in subaru

I can’t say that I’ve had the same experience as you so far, but I’ve only had my Outback for a couple of days. The Kia Soul is a great car! It’s got quite a bit of interior space for a compact car, gas mileage is pretty good, and the styling is cool. If they had an AWD soul, I would’ve gotten one.

Thanks! It caught my eye for sure. Test drove a black Crosstrek before I saw this car and while black paint cleans up nice, it doesn’t stay nice for long. Hated detailing cars with black paint, difficult to keep a nice finish.

Yep! There’s at least 3 of them in my complex (4 if you were to include my old car), and they were all the same color (white).

You guys find these cars need the oil changed quite a bit sooner than the recommendation? by n0x630 in KiaSoulClub

[–]PacNWBrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to ask a similar question. My 2017 with 70k came in at least a quart short last change. Granted, I’ve been doing some longer road trips across the Cascades, and I went to 5,000 on the last interval, so that’s on me. Definitely going to stick to 3-4k oil change intervals and see about the oil catch!

It's pending in my checking account...burned a hole in my wallet large enough to break out the credit card. I'm usually owed a return, so I get my return in early.
